Hyundai 2003 elantra GLS airbag light

My recently bought hyundai 2003 elantra GLS has airbag light on. It runs without any problem though. I wonder if I can identify if it is a sensor problem or is that real airbag issue. I know airbag is a huge thing, but I would like to know a bit more before I take it to dealer to pay two hours just to diagonalize. Thank you!

A malfunction in the air bag system won't cause any driveability issues. There are many parts to the supplemental restraint system that could put the air bag light on. The computer needs to be scanned to figure out what part of the system needs to be checked. Usually it's not the air bag itself that is the problem, but more likely a clock spring in the steering column, broken wire somewhere or even an impact sensor. If this is something you want to get repaired you may have to bring it into a repair shop. Keep in mind your not limited to dealers though, many independent repair facilities are capable of diagnosing and repairing air bag problems.

If all you want to do is find out what DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) is stored in the computer, it doesn't take 2 hours -- only a minute or so... they might be able to scan it on the service lane - no diag fee (if the dealership'S service department is willing to do it). There have been very, VERY few problems with the 2003 Elantra Supplemental Restraint System (AIRBAG). It's a good chance that it just a 'History" code that may have occured during a low battery voltage condition.

Why is the cooling fan always running when car gets warm on my 2003 hyundai elantra

It is easier to cool a warm engine that to cool an engine at almost over heat condition. So manufacturers run the fan as soon as the engine gets to operating temperature and that gives the cooling system more control of the heat in the system

2003 Hyundai Elantra GLS. Check engine light, code PO133

Did you use a aftermarket O2 sensor or a genuine Hyundai one? If it's an aftermarket one it may be bad or not as good as the OEM one. See here for more details and other potential causes: P0133

Two seperate problems. I would say you have a bad wheel sensor. A trip to a local big chain parts store will tell you. They will run a diagnostic and pull the code for free. Hope this helps...

2002 Hyundai Elantra, airbag warning light stays on

Airbags can be as dangerous and deadly, as easily as they can save a life. The airbag warning light is telling you that your vehicle has no airbags at this time.

If you don't understand the total airbag system, it's best left to a professional. It's worth the expense to have operable airbags, rather than chance a collision without operable airbags. My suggestion to you is to let the dealer fix your system so it is guaranteed.

Airbag light

Take it into a Hyundai Dealership and have the SRSCM scanned for the specific trouble codes. They will tell you EXACTLY where the problem is and what's needed to fix it. NOW, having written that, if you want to try 'CLEARING' the airbag light to see if it comes back 'ON', disconnect the battery cables (+) and (-) from the battery and touch them together for 10 seconds (this is with the ignition key in the 'RUN' position). Reconnect the cables to the battery to see if the Airbag light comes back on or stays on. If it does, then have it diagnosed by a qualified technician.
