The Map Sensor is brand new tho. It's a 1984 Pontiac Sunbird LE, I heard AutoZone won't test cars older then 1994.

I've replaced map sensor, oxygen sensor, cap, rotor, plugs, pickup coil, ignition control module, when I unplug map sensor the car runs, but when you put it in gear it dies right out.

Dodge caravan dies when in gear

Vacuum leaks. ( hissing noise around the engine). Tune up (plugs and wires). clean the throttle body(inside of it). All these can cause rough idle. The dieing can be from transmission problems. Can you rev the van up and keep it running while in gear? Or does it die then too? You can replace the solenoid pack on the outside of the transmission for around $250, if you do it yourself. If you do this, DO NOT get any dirt in the holes of the transmission where the solenoid pack sets. Clean it well before you remove the old pack.

I have a 1988 GMC 1500 with a 305 the problem is that it wont idle I found that if I pull the vacum line off the MAP sensor it is fine for 30 seconds then dies I got a new map sensor and nothing chan

Change the PCP valve and run the heater. This should take care of it. You only have to run the heater one time as this is controlled by the vacuum system. This will cause your motor to run proper.

I recently took my Toyota Camry into the shop to have them replace a oil pump cover gasket and now that it is put back together it runs really rough while idling only (it will rev up and then almost stall)...

it actually sounds like a vacuum or intake leak or the map sensor start the car and unplug the map sensor wire set. motor should have steady idle after that. if not then start checking and unpluging the idle air control valve or the throttle position sensor the only sensro the car will not run with unplugged is the mass air flow sensor

1990 chevy corsica 3.1 liter v6 engine. started ran fine went shopping and on my way home it dies out of no where, start it back up give it gas dies again. it will run in idle but sounds rough and as soon...

Coils and wires are the most likely culprits as they never get replaced hardly ever. You cant really test a coil, you can check for resistance on the plug wires but that doesnt tell you if the insulation is bad on them.

03 3.5 altima idle rough and would die

Is that a map sensor, or a MAF sensor? Map sensor has three connection and measure engine vacuum. It is easy to check that. You apply vacuum to it by sucking the hose, and see if voltage changes on one of the pin. It is all done while connected, with the key ignition on the on position.
