Question about BMW X5 Series

1 Answer

I have a 5 series BMW 2004. I can't reconnect my cell phones via bluetooth to the call. They were connected at one time, but then I deleted them (I changed the nammes of the phones and thought I could just re-do them) and now those phones will not re-pair with the car's bluetooth. The car doesn't acknowledge seeing them at all now. My guess is that I have to reset the cars's communications system or something but I don't know how to do that. To be clear, the issue is not just pair the phones. That won't do it.

Stuff,
this is just a stab as I do this on Lexus vehicles frequently. I don`t want your money for this so please don`t be upset if it doesn`t work the same, but lets try.
First pull up your BMW manual if its handy and erase any bluetooth phones in your info and try to establish a pairing mode.
Then go back to your phones one at a time. Go into the phone settings and info and see if you have a default phone name for example my Samsung comes up as an SPH number. If so be sure that default is what you see on the cars info screen when trying to pair the phone and the vehicle. Be sure you are activating the `hands free``function in each phone
If the car cannot see your phones, it is likely that you have to re-enable pairing via the phone again as well and you may have to go into your phones security settings as well.
If you are stuck, post the phone brand and model and we`ll try agian.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I cannot paire any phone thrue bluetooth with my x5 BMW 2005

I know that 2004 BMWs used a Bluetooth protocol that is now obsolete. There are no longer any cell phones made that will pair with a 2004 BMW unless you get a very expensive upgrade to your Bluetooth module from BMW. Not worth it. When my wife got a new phone several years ago, she had to switch to aftermarket Bluetooth devices because as I recall, it was something like $2k to upgrade the Bluetooth in her '04 330i.
I was under the impression that 2005 BMWs use a more current Bluetooth communication protocol, but I don't know that for sure. If your car is an early 2005, I would suspect that perhaps it uses the same protocol as the '04s.

I nned to know how to set up bluetooth in my car. it has all the functions on the steering wheel but I dont know how to set it all up . I also cannot find my manual !

You need to have the Bluetooth code (a four digit number that should be with your vehicle documents)
- Turn Bluetooth at your phone.
- With the car ignition key at Position 0 (Off), pressand hold the phone key on your steering wheel.
- Whilst still holding the phone key down, turn the ignition key to position 1.
- release the phone key after about 3 seconds.
- The car display should then show "BLUETOOTH PAIRING" or similar.
- Search for new bluetooth devices with your phone.
- When the BMW unit is detected, select and enter the 4 digit PIN.
- Your phone should now work via the cars Bluetooth interface

Bluetooth/radio stopped working

In first instance try to disconnect the unit from the mains and reconnect 15-20secs later 8 times out of 10 it helps. otherwise you might need to reprogram the unit processor which is more complicated and requires knowledge and understanding of electronic principles, assembler, also some devices to perform the task.
Otherwise I'm not sure about exact model of your ECU (computer) but in some cases it also gives the access to reprogrammable radio unit, so in this case laptop, one simple program (u can find it as free downloadable .exe file) and special diagnostics cable wuold sort everything out. But as I said not all ECUs offers such an option. And if you'll go for this step you need some knowledge about electronics and soldering as you'll have to build the cable I mentioned, as tu purchase one would be quite painfull for your vallet.

Hope it helped although if you need any further information just drop a line here.

if you have a bluetooth phone paired to the vehicle, try deleting all bluetooth devices. Sometimes a battery reset can cause bluetooth synchronizing issues.
