the housings will be the same
clue here --if the diff center comes into the housing from the front not a problem
if it comes in from the rear ( tin cover removed ) replace the complete housing as you will have to have expertise in resetting the bearing pre-loads for the diff center bearings
if it is the same bolt pattern in a banjo housing
(fit in from the drive shaft end not salisbury type-- remove cover and pull crown wheel out from the rear) it will fit
items to consider are axle spline size and numbers and diff ratios
if the ratios are not the same , the swap will cause very early drive line failures

pull the caliper mounting bolts,hang it from a clothes hanger,compress the piston to make room for the new pads,put every thing back like it was, check brake fluid. (open bleader on caliper when compressing piston.)

sounds like caliper is getting hung up and not releasing. did you lube the guides for the pads. or slide pines could be stuck. or e-brake cable for that side is pinched causing it to hang up.
