If you havent done anything to your engine then just split the difference. the range is for engines running to rich or too lean.

Where is the crankshaft sensor location on my 97 f250 460

I show a 97 Ford 460 has a distributor, so there should not be a crank sensor on this engine.

Pionts setting for 460 engain

don't forget when setting the timing on a 460 to pull off the vacuum advance hose from the distributor and block it off to prevent a vacuum leak , set the timing at 8 degrees BTDC, the points should be set at gap .017" the firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Ford 460 - no spark

Since the distributor is in the front on the 460 and you replaced the water pump check the connection plug coming from the distributor. If you disconnected it when removing the water pump you may not have made the connection tight enough to complete the connection. Look for pinched wires also. And your engine does not have points. You have a breakerless ignition system in the distributor. The air gap should be set at 8 thousands of an inch. Check the gap. Good luck.

The gap on the points to your distributor is .017 or the thickness of a match book.
