Question about 1995 Lincoln Continental
What do I check? Why does warning come on? Comes on every start up. Do not feel and problem with ride or steering.
All warning lights come on during start up. its a test to insure all lights are working. if the light stays on longer than it should you may have a leak in the system somewhere. you can check for leaks with a spray bottle filled with soapy water. on top of the compressor and at the top of the airbags are a common area for leaks.

Speed Sensitive Power Steering
(SSPS) Warning Light
Your vehicle is equipped with Speed Sensitive Power Steering (SSPS).
This is a computer-controlled power steering assist system.
The warning light you are describing will come on briefly when you turn the ignition to ON as a check to show you the bulb is working.
Then it should go out after a few seconds. If the warning light does not come on, have it fixed so it will be able to warn you if there is a problem.
If the warning light stays on, or comes on while you are driving, the SSPS system may not be working.
Your computer will need to be scanned to determine what the problem is with your SSPS system.
