Gmc yukon turns but will not start dont hear the fuel pump on in the fuel tank

With ignition key on run, use test light to verify you have positive & ground to fuelpump. No power (positive) check fuelpump fuse. No ground check fuelpump relay. If both positive & ground fuelpump needs to be replaced.

Truck acts like it wants to start but it won't turn over, changed fuel filter. now i need to find out where and what to check out next. thanks in advance:)

The Inertia safety switch may have tripped on you. Depending on which Model of Ford you have, the Inertia switch is in different places. The most common place is at the top of the Drivers kick panel or the Passengers kick panel. Sometimes a hole is provided to allow a finger to pass through to press a button on top of the switch. On other Models, the kick panel must be removed. Yet a third place would be behind the glovebox around the computer.

When you turn the Key to Run, a short burst of the fuelpump will pressurize the system and then it waits until the engine starts, then continues running. You should hear the fuelpump run. When the button on the Inertia switch is pressed it makes a circuit.

Your truck should also have a Relay for the fuelpump and the Ignition. If the Inertia switch reset does not help, one of the Relays may be bad. Check whether you have spark at the plugs and go from there. If you have spark, you may not have fuel and need a fuelpump Relay.

I hope my solution is helpful to you.

GMC Canyon, computer shot.. cost?

You can to the Salvage Yard for a new computer, but your going to have to get it reprogram to your ignition keys, so the Passlock will start the engine. Before you go through all of that. recheck every thing, it could be your crank sensor or your ICM faulty causing your engine to shut down. Keep me posted and let me know what DTC codes you have. Note: a faulty fuel pump or dirty fuel filter will not set a DTC code. You may have a dirty fuel filter or faulty fuel pump or faulty fuel pump wire harness or fuel pump relay.

1996 GMC Suburban - Quit Running While Driving, Will Not Start

Listen at the back by the fuel tank for a 1 to 2 second prime cycle whirr from the tank when turning the key to run position after it has been off for at least 10 seconds.
No noise means no running pump.
....and no noise means.....
Most likely it will need a new fuel pump....80%
Fuel pump relay 10%
Fuse or bad wiring 10%

The quick fix to get home is to crank the truck to create oil pressure to fire the pump......and while cranking WHACK the tank hard with a 2by4 or something like that....to jar the pump..... and it may start running long enough to get it somewhere to be repaired.
This works 60% of the time on a dead pump.

If you do hear a whirrr.....you most likely need a ignition module or crank or dist pickup.

Ignition problems

try locking and unlocking the doors three times slowly, this often works on cars with immobilisers, other than that try changing the fuel pump and putting a separate earth to one of the small connectors on the relay, check for power and earth the other ,this will by pass the alarm/cut out.If this is a bit beyond you then take to garage and become a golden egg donor.cant tell you where relays or anything else on this vehicle as i have never seen here in spain
