Sounds like metal to metal scraping, time for new pads, rotors resurfaced, also bleed brakes

Its the ABS Computer, it is getting to be a common problem now, I have had that happen to me and I almost hit a car. I would unplug the abs until you can get it fixed, the plug is in the box that the brake lines run to from the master cylinder. The ABS light will be on but its better than rear ending someone.

ABS braking system engages at slow speeds or while

Are there any malfunction lights coming on? If so then it could be a wheel speed sensor. sometimes people confuse rotor vibration with abs pulsation.

My ABS brakes are kicking in when I go down a hill or turn my wheel. Normal stopping is fine, but slow to stop I hear a internal rubbing sound and then the brakes engage. No light on yet. What might...

A wheel speed sensor is most likely the cause, sometimes one wheel sensor might be a little off in its values and the car thinks the wheel is skidding so it activates the anti-lock system. Problems seems to occur more often at slow rate of speed. When you turn the steering wheel it changes the rotational speed from one wheel to the other and the abs computer thinks it's moving at a different rate of speed, normaly the system will compensate for this, but again if the sensor is off a bit and it excedes it's maximum allowance it will activate the system. The sensors are built into the hub assembly on this car. The rubbing noise sounds as if the abs system pump is comming on.( this is normal if in fact this is what's going on with your car). The reason no light yet, is because as far as the abs module is concerned everything is working properly and it's just doing what it's supposed to do.

The first step in diagnosing this problem is to hook it up to an ABS scan tool and see what trouble codes it has put out.

ABS light comes on sporadically. Then sometimes when at a slow stop lurches forward a foot or so. when I press harder on brake it stops. Have had mechanical of brakes checked and all seems to be well....

hello, it is more than likely an air bubble is trapped in your ABS pump itself, if so, it will need to be purged! a speed sensor could turn on ABS light, but will have no affect on hydraulic pressure at a stop, only an ABS (skid) stop. good luck marty
ps.......the pump needs to be purged with a san tool

Brake Problems on AUDI with ABS

Take it back, they obviously messed up something. It could be the axle/cv joint or they bent one or two brake disk(s). It could be they did't install the calipers correctly, missing parts.
