Should idle between 500-600. Clean your throttle body with the battery disconnected to help with the fluctuation. The roaring very well could be your fan clutch. Fan clutches are a known problem with our platform. If engaged, will sound like an airplane.

2002 camery roaring from front seems louder when slowing down. It is not brakes


check wheel bearing...transmission output shaft bearing. noise is louder because when bearing slow down, they get louder from worn down ball bearing inside the cage, space is developing between the ball bearing..caused by lack of lubricate, or just worn out bearings

I have a 2002 chey blazer 4x4 extreme. When you get to about 20 miles an hour there is a roaring sound. It runs fine, however it does idle high, so much that when you put it in gear you don't have to...


The roaring sound is the front wheel bearings, jack up the front wheels and check for play side to side, as for the high idle the vacuum lines on the top of the motor they also run up by the bottom of the windshield on down to the from diff are probly rotted and leaking please rate

Needs a wheel bearing, or the differential rebuilt. most likely the diff, but could be bearing.

Same problem with an LS...wheel bearings. Comes in the whole hub assembly. Just had it fixed for $340.
