2000 pontiac montana security system locked and it won't start. The information center on the van shows as follows; Low battery light, Then Security light, Then Low fuel light. Its full of gas. Help?

Does the security light come on when you turn the key to run ,Does it go off in a few min. The proper way to reset the anti-theft system would be to turn the key to the on position for 10 min. if the light goes out in that time ,turn the key off for a few seconds . Then try an start the vehicle . If light comes back on an won't start there is a hard fault . You mite at that point wan't to do a theft system by- pass . Also have your battery checked and or charging system . A low battery , a malfuctioning charging system may cause these type problems .

1998 corvette will not start says reduced power

If the security light is blinking it will not start. The security system needs to be reset. You will have to have a fully charged battery to reset the system. With a full charged battery turn the ignition forward until the warning lights come on and leave the key in the on position for 15min. Turn key off and wait 10sec. then try and start. You may have to perform this procedure a couple of times, however, it is usually successful the first try. The reduced power light can be set by a low voltage/poor charge battery

02 suburbsn wont crank, full battery power

I had a similar problem with a 1999 Chevy Astro. All fuses checked out good. Several posts advised cleaning the battery terminals, checking out the ECU to cutting the yellow wire from the ignition switch, check to see if it'll crank on Neutral, and also checking/replacing the brake switch. I simply removed several keys from the key ring, then shot several bursts of air from an air can (some keys are keyed to the ECU to turn off the Security System when attempting to start the engine), then waited several minutes for any condensation to dissipate, then was able to crank the engine to life.

Can a faulty theft system drain your battery?

No an anti-theft system can not drain a battery. Only two things can, with a couple of other caveats.

  1. Faulty, old battery not holding charge.
  2. Parasitic draw, something that is staying on and draining the battery. These are difficult to find. The way to do it is to connect an ammeter to the battery and pull the fuses one by one until you find the items that are shorting to earth.

Some anti-theft systems provide no power to the starter at all. Some send power power to the starter, but no power to the coils, so no spark.

Disconnect the battery and clean the terminals with a wire brush and smear with vaseline which stops oxidisation but is electrically conductive.

Charge the battery with a battery charger.

Leave battery disconnected overnight.

Put the key in the ignition, but not turned on. Connect the battery in one swift movement. Tighten contacts. Leave 15 minutes for the ECU, to reset, and the chip in the key and the chip in the lock to re-pair.

sounds like either the battery has failed and/or the cables are badly corroded or loose sometimes when a battery sets that long the plates in the cells will sulfate can you try to jump it?

Car won't start. Just had oil change, new starter, gas tank full, new battery. It shut off while I was driving. Information display shows there is no fuel and the battery power is zero, but I am still able...

Use a test lite and follow voltage from battery B+. The positive and negative battery connections have to be good on both ends. Check for voltage at fuses in fuse box, some fuses are hot all the time, some go hot with key on. Check for fusible links, I forgot to look in diagram?
I also looked at wiring for your starter motor, it shows a security system. The security system will disable starter motor. I can't be certain your security system is the problem? Does your key have a pellet in it? Any applicable trouble codes? Unless you can do some testing, I'm not sure which route to take? Is it an electrical issue or is your security system involved?
YouTube has a bunch of videos about bypassing the vats/pass key system. If that is the problem. My info on your model year, isn't that great.
