The wiring is wrong somewhere or you have a bad battery or a draw on the system. The red wire on the back of the alt. should connect to the battery "+" circuit, if not right to the battery. The wire that goes to the plug in connector must be in place. Lee

The alternator will not charge the battery but AutoZone tested the alternator good then they said it could be the battery well it also tested good. I called a mechanic and he said it could be the wire in...

You need someone to test the charging system on the truck.
The warning light is on when the alternator is not producing power. The yellow white wire going to the alternator is on a 15amp fuse and it could be dead.

Alternator cannot be good if its not charging. with the engine running check voltage across battery. It should read between 13.4 and 14.5 volts. Check fuseable links to battery

1996 Chevy Beretta won't charge battery

Let the car run for a little while. The battery will read lower after starting because it just pulled power out to start the car. If battery light comes on or the voltage keeps dropping trace all wires and make sure connections are tight. I would think that a 95 model car would have an internal voltage regulator but if not find it and replace it. But be sure to unhook the battery first or you will short the new regulator out too.

Intermittant charging

Check the battery cables for tightness and corrosion. clean well and retighten. Check the ground negative cable to the engine and fender, make sure they are clean and tight. Check alternator output, and make sure belt is tight to pulley.

Altanator keeps dieing.

A fresh charged battery does not mean it is a good battery. The battery is working the alternator to death, replace it,it has a bad cell,or the amps are to low,and has a short in it.The alternator senses the battery is in bad need off charge, and puts all out until the alternator has nothing left,This is the most likely cause of this problem. Also be sure the battery cable ends are shiny clean when replacing the battery.
