What did you do? hammer the pads in? It appesrs the pistons are not retracted fully . Open the bleeder screws on both calipers and force the pistons back real slow. then close the bleeders.. open the master cylinder while doing this but leave lid over the fluid so you don't get it all over. Good Luck, Ned

I understand they are not adjustable in the normal sense and are self leveling via a servo motor that determines the ride attitude and moves the lights accordingly. Find a jag owners forum as to what to do next.

Sounds like a loose or worn belt that is rubbing on the pully. Pull on the belt and if you can move it more than 1/2 an inch out from the line between the two pulleys, you need to tighten it. If the belt is old, you can try adding some belt dressing but that is a temporary fix.

1998 S-reg jaguar XK8 drives perfect until reverse is selected then goes in to reduced performance mode. using a fault code reader fault code P1646 and P0706 were read.

Seems likely it is just a transmission cable adjustment needed. Please see my whole note (not a musical whole note) above under Clarification...

I'd go to this site and read the info... http://www.europeantransmissions.com/Bulletin/DTC-jag/Jag/307-01.pdf

Jaguar XK8 PROBLEM BOOT WON'T CLOSE

In the trunk on the right side behind the carpet is the hyrdaulic unit. There is a T fitting on it. Turn the T fitting counterclockwise to release pressure. Tighten it back up and try the top again. I have had this work for me several times.
