Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille
If the smoke is truely white, then I would be looking for a cause of coolant burning in the cylinders. A bad head gasket, cracked head, or block could all cause this. See if your coolant level is low after cool down. If the smoke is a light blue (almost white) then I would look for reasons the engine is burning oil. If your oil level is constantly low without leaks then it is likely you have an issue with piston rings, valve seals, cylinder wear, oil intrusion into pcv system, or some other problem allowing oil into the cylinders.
