What oil must i put in the diff of a ford 4000 tractor with the oil pump for lift inside the diff

80-90 oep diff oil unless it is a limited slip diff in which case you use special limited slip diff diff oil
don't know if it is limited slip diff diff
you can check by jacking up the rear end and having a friend turn a rear wheel
by holding one wheel the other wheel will be turning in the forward direct as that is what limited slip diffs do diff do ( both drive )
other than that call your local manufacturer service center and ask

Holden Rodeo 4x4 petrol 2001 V6 what is the lubricant quantities for the diffs, gear box & transfer case. Also what weights of oil

manual transmission --- 80w-90 for the gearbox and transfer case
diff is 80-90 oep if a straight diff and different if a limited slip diff gear box is around the 2.5 ltrs as is the diff each
LiSiD oil can be used in LiSiD diffs and straight diffs but straight oil cannot be used in lisid diffs
the transfer case uses the same as the box but the quantity you will have to check in the lubrication section of the user manual
many user manuals recommend a lighter straight oil for transfer cases and boxes ( 30 straight oil) but I find that the light oil promotes bearing wear and gear problems as the oil squeezes out under load

I had a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria with An H9 rear axle code. I want to know what rear axle code is comparable to the H9 for a Mercury Grand Marquis?

reading forums on this reveals that the h9 is a 3.55 limited slip diff mainly used in f150 fords. However all that is immaterial as what you are looking for is a diff centre that is 3.55 ratio that will fit in your housing . The same housing will use the both LSD and normal diffs as the LSD was an option offered for off road vehicles or vehicles operating in bad road conditions

Differential oils

Use standard 80-90 OEP diff oils in standard diff and special oil if diff is limited slip unit as oep oils will destroy a limited slip diff.

What type of oil should i put in a deaf for a four wheel drive toyota corrolla sprinter1998 model. manual transmission.

for ordinary diffs most manafactures recommend 80/90 sae oil. personally I prefere 80/90 epw oil as it protects the gears better.Check that the diffs are not limited slip because limited slip diffs require a special oil or they will fail very quickly

Need gear ratio on 2005 F150 4X4 with axle code 19

here's a sure way. Jack up 1 side of the rear end, unless it's limited slip then both now with vehicle out of gear make a mark on tire at straight up. Now mark your defferintial behind the drive shaft is good or any where you can observe the results. Now turn tire 1 revoloution and have someone count hte revs of the drive shaft or deferintial. Most likely on that truck it will be 3 and a half turns or a 3.50 gear works every time especially if your hip on your axle ratio availability for the specific vehicle in question. Your fixed have fun! Dc

Rear differential leaking

Gear lube is SAE 75W-90 GL-5 gear lubricant. If you have a limited slip diff, add 4 oz of limited slip additive.
Torque cover to 15-20 ft-lbs.

Hi meduck4,heres what you need brother as I cant see your diff, 3 ways to tell what you have:
#1 The first is the driver's door tag; there will be a one-letter or one-numeral axle code listed there. You can then compare it to the chart below: CODE Rear Axle Ratio Conventional Locking 8 M 2.73 Y Z 3.08 F R 3.45 5 E 3.27 6 W 3.73
#2 The second is the axle tag, attached to the lower lefthand bolt on the rear axle itself. The bottom left line will give you the gear ratio, and the type of rear end (S for limited slip non-locking, and L for locking).

#3 The 7.5" rear axle height is shorter than the width and the shape appears "oval".
The 8.8" rear axle
dimensions are equal and the shape appears "round".

This will tell you what you have my friend, good luck
