Question about 2001 Saab 9-3
Hello all I have a 99 Convertible SAAB and it now has issues with the top opening and closing. I have to keep pushing the open button, then the top makes some noise will open/close a little, then I have to release the button and push it again, and it sounds like the motor is going to die with the noise it makes. The whole process takes like 5 minutes or more to open or close the top. I dont know what it is, maybe the motor I have also read it could be the fluid. But I have no idea where to look for that and if it's low, what kind of fluid does it take? Has anyone had this issue before? And where can you get a pdf file of a 1999 SAAB Convertible fix it guide or manual?
Thank you so much....
The most common reason for this is low hydraulic fluid. The noise is probably the pump running while empty. When fluid id present it dampens that noise. Behind the rear seat is the combination motor/pump/reservoir. With the top in the DOWN position, fill the reservoir with ATF and cycle the system a few times as far as it will go. Repeat until the reservoir will take no more fluid. If that works, it is only a patch fix. You must now inspect the lines, motor and cylinders for leaks. The fluid does not evaporate. If it is low, you have a leak. Karl at topgunwon.com
