I have a Ford Fusion 1.4 diesel 2010 when it is cold and i get to a junction the engine dies to a tick over i have to keep pressing the excelerater about 6 time before the engine picks back up.

Diesel engines are cold nature as a rule when first started and need a few seconds of running to wake up if you will. The pre-igniters must have a moment to get themselves hot enough to keep the engine running before starting as well. Turn the key on without starting it for just a second or two before continuing to start it will most likely help considerably.

I have a 2002 taurus idles high from 1000 to 1800 rpm's, 2-5 seconds when hot or cold then comes down to correct idle, happens on start up or driving. Suggestions?

chech engine light is letting you know that the idle air valve has been disconnected. looks like you have a bad idle air valve.

2003 f250 diesel 6.0 hard start when cold, idles rough and dies. runs great once warmed up. Battery light is on but volts are 13.? Not sure if the 2 problems are connected or not

It sounds like your preheat system is not working properly on the cold startup. Haynes has a Diesel Engine Repair Manual, part #10330 that will help you correctly diagnose and repair.
Battery volts at 13 is good but a fully charged battery should be close to 14.2. It would be a good idea to get the alternator output checked and a load test done on the batteries.
Hope this helps.

7.3 rough idle

Gas or diesel having same problem, I'd start there to confirm fuel pressure . It may be pump running partially when cool, but when it heats up (the pump) it may be cutting out pressure wise. Not uncommon for a fuel pump to pump good when cold, then die once pump heats up from running. Still makes noise, but isn't supplying any or enough pressure.

We think it is the diesel injection pump but not sure

Sounds like not all the glow plugs are working. It should run fairly smooth on a cold start if all of the glow plugs are working..Also you shouldn't drive off on a cold start with a diesel,Its really hard on the motors..At least give them 10 to 15 min on a cold start..The oil in them is a really thick oil and when there drove on a cold start theres no oil lubricating the internal parts and will cause the motor to seize up..You may already no this and dont mean you drive it as soon as you start it i just wanted to let you know..When you get alot of white smoke it could be two things,Theres water in the fuel which will make it not have much power die and smoke..But if it runs fine when its warm theres some bad glow plugs...Hope this helps you and have a great day
