Shaking mazda mpv 2003 in idle and loud radiator fan

My mpv check engine light just came on and the car just started shaking while in idle. It comes and goes while sitting and it varies in severity. It is not a continuous shaking but a 1-2 second shake and then a 2-3 second break before it begins again. I also noticed the radiator fan is very loud.

CEL P0660 intake manifold tuning control crt open
    P0171 and p0174 runnning lean

I am unsure if one or both of these will make the car buck in idle but it seems to run fine once driving. It might be that I am not noticing problems with road noise. I checked the fluids and the radiator fluid was lower than the low mark. Not sure if it is leaking or not but have not notices any leaking fluids.

Hello there, As far as the check engine light I would think since you mentioned it shacking that your light will probably be on for a misfire, Meaning most likely you have a spark plug wire going bad. I would stop by somewhere such as Autozone for a free check to tell you why your light is on just to double check.

Your fan issue could be several different things such as the fan motor going bad or the blades could be rubbing something, that one is a little tricky without hearing it.

Good Luck and I hope this does help you some. Allen

I have a 2005 Mazda 3 2.3L and hear a ticking from the engine and notice that it shakes. After taking to the Mazda dealership and then to my trusty, local, hard working mechanic - both agree that there's a crack allowing air to seep into the intake manifold. I don't have a check engine light though. My local dealer said they will try to weld the aluminum "block" instead of replacing the entire part - as the dealership wanted. Will know result soon.

Misfire but no check engine light mazda mpv

Scanning tells a lot. But if your not getting an engine light. Check vacuum lines first. But if you turn the key on and don't see the light. it blew or someone took it out. Then yes, start with having the codes read.

Why my mazda mvp 2003 over heats before one mile

Check as soon as you come to overheating position whether at that time the fan is blowing. If not check for the fan switch,if is working or not.If the fan is blowing then switch the engine off and with the fan not in operation try slowly and carefully not to burn your hands touch the radiator ventilating core surface to all sides on the radiator whether are all on the same temperature feeling. If not means that the radiator is blogged or the thermostat is blogged. If is everything in working order, let the radiator to cool down and slowly and carefully remove the radiator cap or the radiator expansion tank cap and start the engine in idle and follow the water if is rotating. If not you have to check for your water pump if is working might have worn blades. Another possibility is the radiator or expansion tank cap faulty.

Hope this helps.
Good Luck.

2004 mazda mpv engine racing and cooling fan not working

coolant temp sensor tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is so it can regulate the idle and fuel mixture, when it fails there usually is no cooling fan and you will have trouble starting the engine and keeping it running.

My fan on my 2003 mazda mpv starts running as soon as i turn on the ignition. could this cause erractic codes

the temperature cooling sensor, The sensor's output is monitored by the engine computer to regulate various ignition, fuel and emission control functions, and to turn the radiator-cooling fan on and off as needed. check this first ! also check the fan relay in relay box. it may be sticking in the on position. hard to say without being there. but try the above things. good-day ! the fans come on if a/c is on.

Engine shakes when Idling/ Check Engine Light started blinking

i just fixed a similar problem on my van there is a rubber elbow on the end of the pvc hose that connects to the valve cover you can only buy the elbow with the hose and it costs about 100 bucks but i guess they have had to replace a lot of these because the new one looks twice has strong you just have to check and see if its collapsed in on itself preventing air movement or leaking the shop will charge you 175 dollars to fix it plus the part but it only takes 20 minutes good luck

'03 MPV problem

we had a very similar problem on our 2003 mazda mpv. at first we were also told coils. we changed all the coils out and the problem came back. we found out that it was a leak in the egr valve and gasket. there was also another leak found after that. when the leaks were fixed, the problem stopped. i suggest checking for leaks in your engine, this could be the problem.

Mazda mpv engine

You need to have the system tested, but I think you have a spark plug wire that is shorted out.
