if that is the code then replace the pressure regulator
it is not allowing pressure to be maintained at the correct operating pressure (50-65 psi) all of your stated problem will occur

Mercedes 2004 ML350 Fuel Volume Rugulator Control Circuit /open code on PO 001.....car cuts out whilst driving and refuses to start until it cools down a bit...


code p 0001 refers to fuel volume regulator control---circuit open===causes ---wiring---regulator control solenoid
the indications are that the solenoid is opening circuit ( breaking the circuit ) and stops working when it gets hot internally
replacing that unit most likely will be the fix for your problem

Anon, Trouble code P0191, You may need a good tech. with scan tool to read and test system.
  • Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance,computer see's signal from the Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor and/or its circuit is sending erratic readings, indicating a fuel pressure condition that is abnormal. Problems could be out of gas, leaking fuel, faulty fuel pressure sensor, bad wire or plug in circuit,fuel pressure regulator, the fuel pump could be faulty also. We have fault codes#1 and #51 and we need to know what they mean can anyone help


Ian, P0001 fuel volume regulator control circuit/open, may be an electrical problem related to the fuel volume regulator. clear the code and see if it comes back
P0051 Oxygen sensor heater control circuit low, bank 2, sensor 1.
Normally a bad wire/plug on sensor or sensor faulty.

P0001 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit/Open
However, this may not actually be correct on your vehicle, as seemingly error code P0001 is not used by many manufacturer's.. it's a 'generic' code.

Out of the box, I'd say that you have a problem with the fuel management system. However, there's a good chance that it's something simple and inexpensive like a clogged fuel filter or water in the fuel tank.

HO2S (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Circuit No Activity

Possible Causes:


Leaks present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes

HO2S signal wire and ground wire crossed in connector (voltage jumps)

HO2S element is fuel contaminated or has failed

ECM has failed



Trouble Code: P0172


Fuel System Too Rich (Cylinder Bank 1)

Camshaft timing is incorrect, or the engine has an oil overfill condition
