Question about 1993 Ford Thunderbird

1 Answer

I have fuel, and fuel pressure. Have replaced cap and rotor, they were kinda corroded but I've seen worse running. The car sometimes had ruff idle when the intermittent ignition problem did happen. Sometime hard stating then rough idle. Now the car won't start and has no spark. The previous owner had the car at a garage where they said they changed ignition module in the past. Knowing this after I changed the cap and rotor and still had no spark I changed the coil and still nothing, I purchased a new ignition module but it is not on the distributor like everyone is saying. The only other component I can find in view of the circuit is the mag. pick-up actually in the distributor in which I might just buy a new distributor considering I have to take the distr. to a workbench, removed pins disassemble to change the pick up. If there is an ignition module on the car please someone tell me where to exactly find it. I am kinda embarrassed of coming to this problem and being stumped, I am a GM tech and have 4 years of school in automotive technology before working for three years. I just have bad luck with Fords and knowing that for some god awful reason people in my immediate family like to buy them and ask me to fix them when they break. >:-/

Ford f250 runs ruff and will not idle

fuel pressure should be 35 - 45 psi.could have faulty tps sensor.could have intake vacuum leak or ignition timing valve timing off due to worn timing chain.do engine vacuum test replace all vacuum hoses bad leaking egr valve diaphram or gasket will cause engine run poorly.

Truck starts but idles really ruff. sometimes idles ruff and then dies. tried cleaning carb with carb cleaner, also disconnected fuel line at carb and checked for pressure and that was good. really need...

you probably have a vacume leak leading to vacume advance to listen for a vacume leak take a piece of garden hose @3 ft long stick one end to ear and the other end arround the distributer cap with the enging running it will saund like a hiss if you hear it replace the hose. which you can get at any auto parts store
