Question about 2001 Chevrolet Impala

Relay clicking under dash after interior is warm and seems to also affect unlocking of doors when put into park. Is there an adjustment for the neutral/park switch and where is it?

Under the dash, possibly near steering column.
The backup lights flash on and off when in reverse.
The driving lights flash on and off when parked or driving. The doors only unlock intermittantly when shift selector is put into park. The AC compressor electric clutch cycles on and off.
If it is the BCM, I understand that a dealer must program the replacement. Also, where is the BCM and how hard to replace?

I would have to say that the BCM is your problem. This unit will need to be programmed at the dealer and you need to replace it with new one for everything in your car to work properly. (A used BCM cannot program once it is one car to another, The unit locks any further changes)

Probably the body control module causing the clicking.

When in gear door locks

If the interior door handle doesn't open the door, then you have a push bar loose or bent inside the door. If once you unlock the door from the outside you can use the interior door handle to open the door, then you either have a bad lock unlock relay, or the door lock unlock actuator itself is bad.

Interior lights and door locks not working

The central element here is not a relay but the multi-function alarm lock & lighting (MALL) module. You indicate the 20A fuse in the relay center is OK. The MALL also receives BAT power through 15A CTSY/PWR MIR FUSE 6A and IGN input through 15A IGN CHIME/CLSTR FUSE 10 in the I/P fuse block. Voltage from 20A SIG/BU/LP BTIS/CCR FUSE 18 in the I/P fuse block passes through the park/neutral position switch in PARK position to supply PARK POSITION INPUT to the MALL. All of these inputs are required for the MALL to function correctly.

Where is the door lock relay located?

The relay or switch may be shorting, check other door lock controls for correct function, this will rule out relay and isolate the switch or rule out master switch and isolate relay.

check the battery in key, check wiring harness to relays behind dash. I think you have a bad relay or connection or button on your key is sticking. Worst case is having shop diagnose system so you can repair.

Sunroof will not work

Power is supplied to the Power windows and sunroof through the power window circuit breaker. That circuit breaker is supplied power through the RAP (retained accessory power) Relay, the RAP relay also supplies power to the radio. The RAP relay is also fuse protected by the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block. The RAP relay is energized by the BCM body control module.

The RAP relay is responsible for the radio and windows working after the igntion is turned off.

The first place to check would be the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block and then the RAP relay in the Body fuse block.

A list of the BODY relay block located on the left side of the dash to the right of the interior fuse block is below:

(1) Park Lamp Relay (2) Courtesy Lamp Relay (3) Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Relay (4) Power Seats Circuit Breaker (5) Power Windows Circuit Breaker (6) Inadvertent Power Relay (7) Door Lock Relay (8) Headlamp Ground Relay (9) Driver Door Unlock Relay (10) Door Unlock Relay(1) Park Lamp Relay

My 19995 Grand Marquis had the exact same symptoms, but seemed sometimes if I would wiggle the fuse box just under the dash or release the parking brake quickly (which would shake the box) then things were fine for a while. Turned out to be the main ground on the fuse box itself where everything attaches. Good Luck!
