Question about 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4WD
The first thing you should check is the asd relay in fuse box under hood, look very close at contacts. If replacing fuse does not fix wires in box may be burnt underneath. Also check fuel pump relay can you hear the put with the key all the way forward with out staring it if you can change fuel filter and please make sure also that your getting spark at spark plugs. If there is fire to the plugs then there has to be a problem with the timing on it, check that and the make sure you are actually getting fuel to the plugs, it should at least try and hit on ether if its getting fire. You have to do both (crank/ strike tank) at the same time because you don't have power supplied to the pump unless the engine is turning... the PCM needs to see cam and crankshaft position sensor signals in order to hold the fuel pump relay closed. Find the center of the tank and just give it a shot with the side of your fist while someone cranks the engine. If it fires right up, the pump's kaput. It might start and run again, but it can't be trusted to get you where you're going. As a bonus, the new fuel pump module will come with a fresh level unit J.
