Check fluid level, that would be the cause of the 2 things you mentioned.. and hope there isnt any damage to the tranny from lack of fluid. also check for leaks after you refill it. if it doesnt work after that, time for a rebuild

200 Chevy 1500 4-wheel Dr had transmission rebuilt I installed it and filled with fluids started up put in gear and nothing unhooked transmission coolant lines and nothing comes out of lines telp

If no fluid is coming out of the cooling lines, the pump is not working. The pump is driven by the torque converter. When you bolted the transmission to the engine, did you ensure the torque converter was fully seated, and there was no binding? When you were getting the torque converter aligned with the flex plate, did the torque converter rotate freely? If all this was OK, you have a bad pump.

97 town car not shifting from 1st to 2nd gear

Check the Coolant (antifreeze) level. My 94 continental has a hard time shifting from 2nd to 3rd when the level is low. Also, this may indicate that the transmission fluid is too old to work properly. The transmission fluid is cooled at the bottom of the radiator, since cool fluid works better than hot fluid (especially when the trans fluid is old) that could make the transmission not shift properly. Keep the coolant level up until you can have the trans fluid checked.

I just replaced the trans in my 99 durango for the second time in a week it drove great for the first 50 miles then it loses all the gears fluid smells burnt New fluid filter cooler and lines ...

Could it be possible the coolant lines are reversed not allowing the trans fluid to reach the cooler? The pressure line from the trans pump can easily be identified by taking it loose and directing the fluid into a container.

Transmision wont go into gear no drive indicator

Did you replace the lost transmission fluid and rechecked the oil level after starting. Secondly if the torque converter moved forward without you knowing it, the converter may not be properly connected to the front pump and it won't be working Lastly ensure that all electrical wiring connectors are properly connected and not loose.

Difficult to change gear when car warmed up

Dear Phil,

If It Is An Automatic. Have The Transmission Fluid Checked. If It Is A Manual Transmission. Have You Gear Fluid Checked. Have Them Check The Master Cylinder Pump As Well. You Might Have To Flush The Transmission Fluid, Replacing The Fluid With Fresh Fluid.

Hope This Helps.

I was going down the road an all of a sudden the to engine reved up and I was still in drive, and then I pulled over to side of road. trans goes into park, but not any other gear.

Check to make sure it didn't blow the lower fluid line and drain the fluid. after checking the line and then checking to make sure you have fluid if both are good you have one of the more common problems with that transmission, unfortunately it is not the easiest problem to fix or cheapest. If Fluid Level is good and fluid is the proper color the two times I have had this problem in the past it has been the pump inside the transmission. That requires removing the transmission and replacing the pump and bands and then resealing the transmission. The pump was running $842 last year just for the part. The Typical cost to repair the problem you are describing, assuming the fluid is right at this point, is $1800 to $2100 which will normally include the cost of the parts, labor to replace it and remove and install the transmission. I hate giving bad news but I need to be honest about the problem and tell you straight up instead of wasting your time.

Put car in gear but dont have anything took line off to ratiator pumping fluid out there all linkage looks hooked up what could it be

You said it is pumping fluid out,it will most likely be low of transmission fluid, look for a broken transmission line,or hose.

Trans still wont engage

If there is no fluid when you take off one of the lines (check both: the cooler might be plugged) while the engine is running, and there is fluid in the trans, then you have a bad pump inside the trans, or the valve body fell off. Either way, it's probably not going to engage. Ever.
