Izuzu rodeo drives forward on reverse gear

redux. (A/T trans answer not STICK SHIFTED manuals)
no years stated
no transmission stated, auto or stick.

stuck in Reverse.
linkage checks are first.

the trans has lever on the side
called the Manual valve.
it that lever does not go to DRIVE,
then there will be no drive.
there is a cable from the Shift selector to that
transmission side lever.

inspect these parts for proper movement
no damage, not slipping cable, etc.
only you can do that.
or your mechanic.

It only works in reverse

You can not use a trans at all if low on fluid

10 miles low on fluid or any shifting issues overheats
the clutches & ruin the trans

Too bad as I own a 2004 LS

You should know better than to drive it with a line off,low fluid,
etc

I used to own a trans shop & I'am out of touch on prices

I would not be suprised to see you go $4000.00 or more to
rebuild it

Sad-- as the entire kit is about $200.00 plus a reman torque
converter for $200.00 & a couple servos from a dealer

The trans solenoid pack I paid over $300 for wholesale

About $800 if you built it $4500 if you pay someone

4x4 K1500 Chevy Truck, 4 wheel drive repair instructions

There are a number of different hub systems so this may not work but it has worked for me on both auto and manual locking hubs. On a flat surface without traffic. Put the trans into neutral, shift the transfer case into 4x4, shift the trans into reverse and back the truck up 15-20 feet. Completely stop and shift trans into drive. See if this has locked the hubs in. If not, you can also try following the same instructions except shifting into 4wd low. Sometimes the hubs need a "bump" to get them to slip into place. Keep In mind that if the 4 wd low select works, you need to shift it back into 4 wd high before continuing! When taking the truck out of 4wd to 2wd, I recommend the same, shift to neutral, select 2wd, back truck up, shift back to drive and check. Its entirely possible that your hubs need maintenance (they're often overlooked) but hopefully this will get you going. Please let me know if thus worked or if I can offer other suggestions. Good luck!

Changed trans modulator 1991 ranger 4.0 auto

Are you getting a check engine lite? Whether you do or don't scan for codes, and follow up from there.
But I think you may have to have TCM reprogrammed.

No reverse

The trans in your 1500 is not really changed at all since the sixties. Except the overdrive unit added to the back end. As such, reverse is all mechanical. No electronics at all . If you have lost reverse the trans will have to come out. Sorry, but I have been rebuilding that trans since the early 80's and the overdrive unit since around I think 88.

Hope this helps

Need to locate backup light switch on 1988 chevy 1500

I had the same problem. My backup lights wouldn't come on in when I put the auto. trans. shifter into the Reverse position. They WOULD come on briefly as I moved the shifter from Park position into Reverse, but would go off again when the shifter reached the Reverse detent. I got the solution from the Haynes service manual, in which the relevant switch is referred to as something like the neutral safety switch. Check on top of the steering column close to the firewall. Set the parking brake, then move the auto. trans. shifter into Neutral position. Get under the dash and rotate the neutral safety switch clockwise as far as it will go. Then move the shifter into the Park position, and your switch should be set. If the backup lights don't come on now when the shifter is put into Reverse position with the ignition switch 'on', there may be another problem.
