Thanks for the info - I had no idea they would do this. I went out and fiddled with it for a couple of hours and managed to get the job done. The filter I installed is a K&N and seemed to be just slightly larger than the factory one, but we finally got it in.Thanks for the info - I had no idea they would do this. Exceive fuel is being burned but not so much as to turn the cheak engine light on? How bad is it ? 10 MPG? things to check; Fuel pressure both high or low will cause problems. Timing, most can't be changed , but timing belts can jump off a tooth to standard and it'll have reduced compression less power then burn more fuel. Lack of oil and filter changes, both the oil ( makes the engine drag) ( fume), and the air filter. If you live in a non dusty area you can ty running one tank of feul with the air filter removed , if this helps the filter should be replaced. If it appears dirty replace it anyway.
maybe change every year best way to tell is to take them out yourself and hold the filter to the sun if you can see through it dust it off it is good, if you cant see light then replace. old rule of thumb hope this helps
I usually service Ford family Brands and will try to assist you. Back in 1995 there was a change to longer service life sparkplugs and the elimination of Distributors with Crankshaft sensor firing of the plugs. It really depends on the Manufacturers' idea of when to replace sparkplugs by mileage and the various filters on the engine.
You can install plugs and filters anytime you want; just a matter of prematurely spending money on something you do not need. Air filters 12,000 miles, Sparkplugs 50,000 to 100,000 miles, Serpetine Fan Belt 40,000 to 45,000 miles, Fuel filter 25,000 to 45,000 miles.
Check with Autozone, Advance, or Oreilys for information about Manufacturers specs. Stay on an oil change interval based on your driving habits. Sometimes oil breaks down without higher miles and you need to change by date rather than by use. Clean oil for Winter starts, clean oil for Summer driving. Twice a year is adequate for low mileage. Watch your Antifreeze, it chemically changes after 3 years and loses corrosion inhibitors.
I hope at least some of my suggestions are useful to you.
If you are referring to the air filter under the hood then refer to the diagram below for a visual. There is a bolt in the middle of the cover that when removed the lid pulls up and off and you just remove the old and replace the new air filter. There may be a clip of two around the edges of the air filter housing lids as well but it is a simple procedure.
If you are referring to the cabin air filter, this is behind the glove box. There is a tab on the inside of the glove box on the left side that needs to be pressed in and then a plug that you slide to remove. The glove box will now pull forward and down exposing the access panel. Now you see the access panel for the cabin air filter. Remove the two phillips screws and pull the filtyer housing forward and remove and replace the cabin air filter.
the fuel filter is in the fuel tank.It is meant to last for the life of the fuel pump. Ya I know it,s a pain, but thank your mopar engineer for that great idea. The only other filters you have are air intake [ in air box ] transmission [niside bottom pan ] and possibly a cabin filter [ check with your dealer ] if the give them your VIN# .Hope this helps
look at your Idle Air Control Modual (IAC Valve) and most likeley have it replaced, or, check to see if anyone has tampered with your idle set screw on the butterfly valve on your intake air plenum. usually these have a tamper proof plug over them so probably not. i am unsure of the voltages for this modual on your vehicle so i would suggest taking to a mechanic. (note. be sure to check and make sure your IAC is running fine BEFORE tampering with your Idle set screw, this could cause your computer to re adjust to different situations then probably end up with bigger problems. if you feel like replacing your IAC by yourself go to http://www.napaonline.com/Default.aspx then search for Idle Air Control, youll see which part looks like yours, then go replace it. but, not knowing this vehicle i reccomend taking it to your local Technitian for there could be other unknown causes to this problem.
Your Honda Odyssey comes with only 2 filters:
an engine intake air filter and a cabin filter.
To learn how to change your own cabin air filter, see my posting on youtube:
