Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

1 Answer

I have some cds half-stuck in my trunk mounted cd changer. i'd like to know if i can do this fix myself and how or do i need to take it to a car audio place to have the stuck disks removed. i've taken trunk covers of the changer and can see all the nuts i need to remove to get the changer out, but before i go ahead i'd like to know if the task should be left for the car audio repair guys.

    Thanks Jennifer,
I'll heed your advice and take it to a local audio shop or Bestbuy. I have two additional question:

    1) If done correctly by technician the cd changer should be operable as stock before the problem?

    2) Considering most cd changer cases are because the user was changing quickly through cds (i'm guilty) what would you recommend I do if I want to play cd 8 but I'm currently listening to cd 2 so I can avoid this problem again?

    Thanks again

I'm a DIYer but I'll take Jennifer's advice and just take it to the pros to solve this problem. Thanks

Found out that for the 01-03 Aurora simply use a 10mm wrench or socket(attached to a ratchet) to remove the back disk changer holder, then remove the electrical wire connected to it for about 10-20sec, reconnect wire, open magazine and it should pop out of the holder. Try above procedure 2-3x if the magazine fails to pop out. If the problem persists find an auto radio pro.

BTW, a key to prevent this from happening is to wait 10-20s between each disk change. So if you want to skip from disk 1 to 5 wait 10-20secs when you skip between each disk

I would recommend taking to it an audio repair shop. This can be done yourself but there is a chance that the laser could get messed up during the process as it is very delicate. It would be better for the audio repair shop to give you a warranty of their services and if it is damaged during the process, they will reimburse you.

Ford Fusion CD's stuck in changer after battery replaced

Dont know about this to be truthfull but make sure you have the code then disconnect the battery ,join the leads together and leave for half hour then reconnect the battery put the code in and try again ,other than that remove the player and remove the cds manually .Now you know why i do not use the 6 player in the back of my jag as it does the same thing instead i use a cd tape head with a wire on it that i plug into the android phone that i dont use as the battery goes flat too quick but its brilliant for playing music through the cars sound system ,this i do on a long owners meeting run other than that i dont use the jag ,just a old diesel ford escort as i cannot afford the fuel for this jag .How do they afford it stateside with all these big engined pick ups and the like i just do not know .

I have a 1993 Mercedes 300 SE and after I got the radio unlock code from mercedes the radio worked all day just fine. I started the car the next day and the radio had a E 3 message on the display when I...

I dont remember if that year had a theft lock system or not, but I am looking into it. disconnect the negative battery cable for ten minutes and that should get you back to where you can enter the unlock code again and use the radio.

CD Changer not reading CDs

2000 bmw 528i,my cd changer also reads no cds, this seem to be a common problem with all bmw cd changer.Anyway i removed the cd changer from my car, took the outside black cover apart only to see that a white big wheel came of its place,(its the wheel that holds the cd in place from the top (bottom wheel is black attached directly to the motor,as the cd is sandwitched between the black, and white wheels) .if that wheel is out of place the cd will not turn inside the changer for the eye to read it,so your radio screen will read NO CD OR NO DISC.Very easy fix, just place the wheel in its place, and everything worked fine,it took me 20 minutes to fix.
p.s :
1- you do need to make sure you have an original cd in for testing it.
2- you do not need to recode your cd changer at the dealer if you have an old bmw, dealer will need to recode cd changers for 2006 and up.
Good luck.

Some places like Best Buy offer a disk that you put into the changer and it will reset the deck.

CD changer will not accept CD's

I got the ERROR 3 on my Lexus RX330 2004 CD changer, and fixed this problem myself. My CD changer now works fine for more than one month after the repair, and hopefully will continue to work in the future )))) First, I opened top cover of changer ( about 8 screws ). Next step is most difficult - need to detach 4 tiny springs on top corners that hold metal top plate and keep them in the same place not allowing them to fall down (detach the spring, then hook the top with paper clip as to not let the bottom come detached and lose the spring inside). I used paper clips for holding the springs on the coners of the metal frame. Next need to take the metal plate out and then all plastic CD trays with CDs, the plastic trays may jam a little when being lifted out, but they will come out. Take all CDs and don't use them in the changer anymore. Seems the CD changer doesn't like CD-R's. So, use original CDs. Actually I an going to record new CD's using good blank media from good manufactures, will try to see whats gonna happen. So, take out all plastic CD trays keep them in order and facing the right way. After removing all CDs put all things back. Do everything very gently because all parts very precise and easy to break. The cd changer showed "Error 3" for the rest of the evening but then next day was fine and has been working fine since then. I think the computer had to be reset overnight to clear that error. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to PM me.

CD player (6 disc changer) "locked up"

Take it to the dealership, your G35 should have a 4 year bumper to bumper on it. They'll replace the radio under warranty most likely.

Getting E-1 error message for radio

Well I had a 1990 Xj6 with an aftermarket cd-changer in the trunk and it didn't work, so when I took it to an audio specialist he said that it needed to be replaced. But what he did say is that most manufactures use the same connection cables for their products, ex. Sony plugs will work on all Sony cd-changers. I now have a 1994 Jaguar XJ6 and I have the same error code. I know that Jaguar installed Alpine CHM-S620 cd-changers. So in theroy you could go to an audio store and get the same cd-changer and it should have the same plugs so you wont need to rewire anything. I havent done it yet because I just bought the 1994.
