The cruise control stopped working on my 2002 ford escape.any ideas?

Before over thinking this have you checked under the hood to verify the cable is still connected. you will have to remove the engine cover (8mm socket). On top of the engine should be two cables that run to your throttle. Over time the cruise control cable snaps can fail and the cable will come loose. A cheap simple fix is cable ties if this keeps happening.

http://www.aboutautomobile.com/Complaint/2005/Ford/Escape/Transmission+Control+Module+(TCM)+and+Powertrain+Control+Module+(PCM)I tried to put a hyperlink but MacBook not cooperative today.Go to this site if possible or to www.aboutautomobile.com and put in the year of your Escape. This is a 'very' common problem which Ford is aware but chooses more times than not to allow owners to pay for. The site will let you look at the complaints and how some got this problem fixed.

Cruse control quit working cannot determine which fuse to check on 2005 escape

Look under the hood at the throttle. There should be another cable that hooks to it. That is for your cruise control. Alot of times it will fall off causing your cruise control not to wwork.

2005 FORD MUSTANG . CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING

check switches for cruise control, and the electric motor for 'pulling' the cable for cruise control for the throttle body. Check fuse for cruise.

That's all I can think of for, now.

Cruise control stopped working. What do I need to do to troubleshoot it correctly?

first of all did you check the fuse! if ok check the cable from throttle body to speed control or cruise. on a few ford products before 2005 have a recall for the cruise control. call ford dealership to find out.

If the cruise lamp comes on and the cruise does not set i would advise inspecting the cruise cable and make certain it is not broken, if ok the the servo has likely failed.

Cruise control will not engage

pull the plastic cover off the top of the engine and check where the cable from the cruise control connects by the throttle body. There is a plastic connector that might be broken. i had the same problem and a piece of tape fixed it for me but you can replace the part if your picky.

Cruise control

ok, there are two issues. one could be a fuse that you can exchange out with a working one. secondly, this could be a sensor that is connected to the cruise control assembly under the hood. i would pop the hood to see if the cruse control assembly has became stuck or the cable may have been severed as well.
