Question about 2002 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

Man, I've got issues. I thank you guys for taking the time. Just got my car back from the mechanic, and my car idles crazy to 4 1/2 rpm in park every time I start the car and drops to 1 when in park or reverse. He says he already adjusted the idle control. So why is it revving so dang high?

Sounds like you may need to replace the idle speed control motor(actual sensor)its not reading the signal from the ecu properly hope this helps you by the way this sensor is self adjusting if that doesent solve your problem then have your timing checked to make sure your still in time.

Why does my car jerk when i change the transmission from park to drive

the idle RPM is too high
or its just too cold,
how cold is it outdoors?
idle speeds cold can be about 1500 RPM/ cold.
and will ****.
it jerks because you are taking 0 torque from engine
and the sending that to a stalled rear axle.
this cause a ****, that is why the park lock out requires Brakes on
so yo dont run over things.

I have a 1995 C280 Mercedes Benz when in park or neutral idles real low as it is about to die then idles back up to 1000 rpm and continue to do the same. usually stays running though. In drive or reverse...

Not a Mercedes man but if it was a domestic I would say check the readings on the Throttle position sensor first. it should not change unless the throttle is physically moved. after that check the Idle air control valve motor. Hopes this helps. if it was a fuel issue should do it in gear at idle also.

Rough idle on 2002 Dodge Neon

Without trouble codes you are fishing in the dark. If the engine has a cylinder that is dead at idle from a fuel injector or ignition problem, it should have a code for a miss on that cylinder. A mechanical problem like a burned valve could cause the problem without setting a code. Have you checked compression on all 4 cylinders ? ?

Vacuum hoses

I realize that fixing yourself & saving money is the way to go

The problem is,that there are lots of hoses,we don't know as you
don't, what the real issues are or if hoses are even a problem

So if you have no back yard mechanic friends, you have to go
to a repair shop.

Honda 1989 Accord Lxi , 4 door rpm increases and decreases like some one playing with the accelerator after it warms up. it will not do it while in gear so it drives fine, until you go park then the...

This is common on the older hondas, the idle goes up and down, this is caused by a couple of things, you may have low coolant or a bad idle air control valve, the last thing it may be is the power steering preasure switch, this switch is the most common, when you turn the wheel the switch is actived to raise the idle . sometimes that switch shorts out and cause the problem you are having, this switch is located on the powersteering hose, unplug the connector and if the idle stops going crazy then thats the problem.

I just had a majot tune-up done at 105,000 miles. They replaced the timing belt, snake belts, sprk plugs and fluids. Now, the truck's idle keeps racing, which was never the case before. It surges to 2000...

the only thing that would affect the idle that they worked on would be the timing belt. it's also possible that a electrical connector or vacuum hose was inadvertantly disconnected. i would take a look under the hood and look for something out of place. in any case, i would be sure to contact the repair facility

could be numerous reasons. this is your best bet take it in to a mechanic and have your engine codes scanned. it is a minimal charge, some even do it for nothing it only takes 10 minutes.this will point you in the right direction.

Engine idling gone crazy

check for lose vacuum hoses or lose throttle hose make sure you air flow meter ducks are tite if you see everything ok then the idle speed control valve could be dirty with a little carburetor cleaner spray while engine is running open throttle and spray into throttle till you can see throttle is clean you may have to do this a few time hope this information is useful good luck
