2003 Mazda 6 leak

I have the same issue with my 2003 Mazda 6 burning oil. It started around 30k miles but I was told to keep an eye on it.

My engine light came on after a tune up at 100k miles. I check my oil but there is no oil on my dipstick. I have no smoke or leak either.

Stick a hose in your exhaust. Run the hose into the car. Shut yourself inside with doors and windows shut. Meditate on the problem and it will resolve itself.

Hi I have a 2003 Mazda 6 and it's using oil

Is it using it or loosing it? Have you a leak? If not then what is the usage level. If its high mileage engine then then a litre per 1000 miles isn't unusual but Mazda's are good normally so if its ever had the engine oil dangerously low then some wear could have happened that's blighted a normally good engine. Piston rings are usually the first to suffer. Then the oil consumption goes up. A compression test won't always guide you, because its the oil control rings that suffer.

Hi, unfortunately your voltage regulator is controlled by the PCM. If the 120 amp charge fuse is good and the alternator is good; then the PCM is probably bad, as your mechanic is suggesting.

Yes i have a 2000 ford excursion it doesnt have 100,000 miles on yet but when you start it up it blopws out blue smoke what could be causing it

This is usually a sign of worn valve guides..

The engine warms up.. the oil thins.. and the head has oil flowing around the valve train..

You shut it off..the oil leaks past the valve guides into the cylinder..

Next time you fire it up..it burns off.. the process then begins anew.

It's not really hurting anything.. just keep an eye on consumption and add oil as needed.

At some point it will need to be addressed.. cause all leaks..never get better.

Best of luck!

engine could be burning it re fill and re check for a few days
keep a close eye if it stays up they did not fill it right up if it goes back down
look for blue smoke or leakaged put carboard under engine area
if it drips or leak you wont miss it

if the tail pipe is oil free to the touch you have a major oil leak. Look around the entire engine and underneath the engine to see if oil is on the ground

I just had the same problem. I bought a 04 Miata 2 days ago that had just had an oil change. When I checked the oil yesterday and nothing registered on the stick. Then today I noticed some oil on the driveway. I looked at the oil filter with the engine running and saw the leak. There is an oil cooler pick up cylinder is between the oil filter and the block. with the oil filter removed, there is a nut that is not a locking nut which can back off. I took the nut off, cleaned the rubber seal ring between the cylinder and the engine block. I put everthing back together and no more leak. If the seal ring is damaged, it costs $12 ( I Priced one today but didn't need it. This may be the problem you are having.

It is too much. The cost is high since it is at dealer. Go to an independent shop it will cost about $2400 with an old engine (50K miles) plus labor (labor costs around $750) with one year warranty.
