Never heard tell of too much oil pressure, check your engine oil and fill it up, you are out of oil probably. Than replace the pcv valve for three dollars that goes into the valve pan cover there in front top of motor on right side looking at the engine.

2001 olds aurora has several problems. 1. oil pressure lights comes on intermitantly 2. fuel gauge does not work 3. transmission shifts hard intermitantly

Classic 2001 Aurora problems!1) I have found the oil pressure light comes on intermittently as well. Check the oil quality and level. On mine I have not needed to do anything else.
2) If your willing, this is a relatively inexpensive repair...http://aurorah.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=nextgeneration&action=display&thread=5353&page=2

I have a 1995 olds aurora with a northstar. The oil level is fine but the computer says low oil pressure when at a stop light. Is this the oil sensor or oil pump?

Oil pressure is generally not related to oil level unless the oil level is low.
Oil pressure is created by a pump and as the engine parts wear over time, the oil passes through them easier causing oil pressure to drop.
It is also possible that the loss of pressure is caused by an oil pump that has worn, but don't get your hopes up.
If the vehicle has a lot of mileage, has been driven hard, has not had the oil changed regularly, this occurs.
It is sometimes possible to put additives in your car that are "thicker" than oil and this will give you some time to decide what to do.

2001 Auroro 3.5 V6 low oil pressure in display area and oil light come on shortly after start up then goes out when temperature gauge reads car is warm. Oil change shop says no leaks and they changed...

you have a cartridge filter on a 3.5, it is not a screw-on metal canister like most oil filters...the cover that has to be removed to take out and install the new cartridge is made of plastic and you might have a leak there-but I would suspect either the oil pressure sensor or the wiring or connector needs checking or cleaning. You should be using 5w-30 oil, and the capacity is 6 quarts. If you get a warning when cold that goes away when warm, it is not an engine problem but is a sensor problem, oil gets thinner as it warms, dropping pressure. Since your display trips when cold (higher pressure) it sounds like a sensor issue, and the module itself (the display on the dash) can also go bad on these cars.

2003 olds aurora V8 40 oil warning light comes on low oil pressure Its showing 7lbs. What is normal and what could the problem be.This is at idleing only.

your oil pressure should be a lot more than 7 lbs, your oil filter may need changing, or your oil pump could be the problem ....hope this helps....cheers

100 psi is to much and will blow the seals in the motor. You need to find out what the oil pressure is suppose to be and if it is to low then replace the oil pump.

The Aurora is a low pressure oil system. The only solution available at this time is to increase the oil weight. I went o straight 30W to solve the idle alarm issue. Some use 20W oil and that works too.
With 20W you will be at 80 to 90psi cold then drop to 20-30psi hot.
I first replaced the oil pressure gauge and it was worse. I put the original back in and it was better. Then went to 30W and all is fine.
Running it that way for a few years now.
