Yes it is a source of the hesitation and no u really shouldnt drive it as it can create a larger engine problem in the long run.

It turns off sometimes when I'm driving. What can cause this? All spark plugs have been replaced and the egr valve as well.

If it does it sometimes in 5 miles and sometimes 30, and always starts back up, it could be your map sensor. You should try to check the fuel pressure. You may have a clogged fuel filter or a bad injector. Check all your fuses. Try scanning the air hoses for a vacuum leak also. Don't hesitate to ask me a question. I am here to help Susan. Just let me know.

Hesitating on acceleration, also backfiring when taking your foot off the accelerator, approaching a junction.sometimes it will just cut out. if i turn the ignition off and restart it will be ok for about a...

Sounds like a vacuum leak in the motor. Backfiring may be its own problem altogether. Backfiring only occurs when cold air is being introduced into a hot exhaust stream or when the timing is off. Check for vacuum leaks under the hood and leaks in your exhaust. If you have a leak in your exhaust it could be interfearing with your emission sensors and giving your motor false information.

Hard starting but after started runs fine sometimes hesitation in the throttle but just replaced fuel pump assembly 6 mo. ago. Any ideas?

maybe a complete tune up will do the trick especially if you havent had one in a while. if your tuneup is ok check for vacuum leaks or air blockages like in the air filter these would give you symtoms like what youre having.

1997 jeep grand Cherokee laredo hesitation problem

You should add a rs4 performance chip or the fuel economy chip also made by rs4. there like 70 bucks. If the problem is electrical changing your chip could solve the problem. Even if is doesnt work the chip will make your truck idle more smoothly, have better throttle response, and you will add 3-7 mpg. I bought one for my 1997 jeep grand cherokee straight six, and it felt like i was driving a different truck . It mae that much of a cant loose!!!Like everyone says , it could be a vac leak or a clogged fuel filter , soetimes bad gas...your problem is a needle in haystack. Try the chip...I hope this helps

1999 rough idle/hesitating at idle .drives fine i

Yes it could be a vacuum leak at the intake manifold, could also be the MAF sensor (especially if you use a gauze/oil air filter).

Car hesitates on idle

the mechanic should check on the Idle and loosen or adjust the Idle of the car may be its been tighten .if still hesitate you should check the entire fuel pump. to see if there is a problem in the way the Idle is connected to the fuel pump. That is why it won't work or it will stock for sometimes when driving or starting the car.

Hesitation problem when accelerating. Quad 4 has hesitation espcialy when first taking off. New fuel pump, coil packs, fuel filter, throttle pos sensor converter.

Check for vacuum leaks, make sure your PVC valve is operationa. Also be sure to take your car to a place such as autozone where they can do a detailed diagnostic test (usually free of charge) wich will help you further locate the problem..

PCV Valve usualy runs about 3 - 7 dollars, and is usually located on your valve cover attacthed to a vacuum line,

O2, and Fuel sensors may sometimes have adverse effects on engine performance.
