Trani shifts hard

My buick lesabre, 2000, shifts hard at some point during my travels. I noticed though, that if I were to turn off engine for a few minutes, then start on the road again, taking it easy on the gas peddle, it back to easy shifting, But if I go a little harder on the gas peddle, the hard ******* of the trani. would ressume. what do you think? tom

2001 buick lesabre won't shift into overdrive

Even good mechanics make mistakes. I'd take the car back to the mechanic who changed the oil and tell him the problem, and ask if he'll check to see if he knocked a connection loose. If he gives you a hard time, take it somewhere else. As you guessed, it's probably just a loose or disconnected wire to the transmission.

Sounds like the vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission or the vacuum hose going to the unit. I'm not sure if buick Is fed off of the carburetor vacuum or there's a vacuum tree on the rear of the engine block that may feed it as well. Typically if there is a vacuum leak to the modulator, your engine power will be decreased and your engine will be running rough.

Sometimes the transmission on my 2001 LeSabre 3.8 V-6 shifts hard but not always tranny has been serviced with new filter and fluid

Have someone check for any transmission codes these don't always turn on your check engine light,If no codes and your speed sensors are reading ok it sounds like you may have a accumaltor piston seal may be leaking.

If t dies hard - feeling like the trani is not disigaging when you stop - it could be a electronic part inside the trani.. This part tells the stall converter to kick in at a stop.. Not super expensive to fix.. But best done by a trani shop....

Hard shifting 4l60e

How is the linkage from the steering column to the trany. Did it get lined up after the engine and trany was put in? May just need an adjustment. You can also check the connections at your speed sensors. Make sure wires or harnesses didn't get pinched during assembly.

2001 buick lesabre, transmission problem?

There is a pressure sol. in the transmission that is bad . This is a common problem that requires removal of the side transmission cover. The transmission does not need to be rebuilt! Talk to a gm dealer. I have sold over a hundred of these pressure sol. and the side cover gaskets to a real gm transmission mechanic that have fixed this problem. GM parts over 20 years.

Trans shifts very hard after 5 minutes of stop and go traffic

A reason for hard shifting could be a problem with many things with various degrees of seriousness. It could be your ATF( automatic transmission fluid) is low or broken down and old. This would cause the hardness and the reason for stop and go traffic effecting it. Another possibility is your transmission is just shot, and the timing gears inside are worn and not properly shifting at the correct RPM causing a **** during shifting.

Some possibilties, not all!

PCV location on a 2000 buick lesabre

Open hood, top left side between the valve covers. There is a "funky" plastic housing that turns counter-clockwise (less than 1 inch of travel). then pull straight up to reveal the "missing" pcv valve.

Try running a trany flush machine on it at first and if that doesn't work you may have a bad tork converter clutch.
