Question about 1995 BMW 5 Series

1 Answer

The hazard lights start flashing and I can't turn

I have a 1994 318is BMW. The hazard lights started flashing and I can't turn them off. When they finally stop flashing, opening the door will start them flashing again.

Also, when I pulled the turn signals and hazard lights fuse from the fuse box, you can still hear a clicking of a switch by the glove box.

There must be alarm fitted that either has the siren disconnected or turned off. Basically sensing an intrusion alert or voltage drop. Flip out the hazard switch, there will be a wire which runs seperate from the body loom into this light, just cut it, the correct one though. if needs be trace it back.....probably end up behind the glove box

Put your key in the driver's and turn it to the right and hold it there fort at least 10 seconds. This should shut off the BMW security system

If this doesn't work, do you have a BIG bmw key with the alarm built into it? If you do check out how to "sync" the KEY with the car. Any good manual or competent BMW shop should be able to help you over the phone. Something like holding down the button on the key for "along" time--sorry I have only seen this done once and do not remember everything--GOOD LUCK. I believe it's the same procedure done after a new battery is added to the remote.

My hazard lights don't flash but turning signals work

in new cars, especially premium ones have digital circuits for signals and flashers. they are seperate on BMW for instance. if only flasher is problematic reason can be the switch itself.

Hi, I just got a series 3 1996 BMW. The alarm is constantly on and when we disabled it the hazard lights flash continuously. Any idea how to sort this?

There is a short in the connections so the hazard lights are flashing. The hazard flashers may begin flashing by themselves or the turn signals may flash at twice the normal speed due to condensation shorting out the circuit board. --------- Have you tried disconnecting the car battery, then turning the ignition on and reconnecting the battery? If not then please try this and check. And see if that makes any difference in the problem or solves the problem.--------- Also you can try disabling the hazards from flashing. To stop the hazards flashing pull the hazard switch out (pull the gear leaver gaiter out then you can put your fingers under the switch and push it out) then you will see a single wire in a black sleeving, cut this wire and this will stop them flashing. Also the alarm is behind the glove-box if you want to unplug it there. ----------- Keep updated for anymore query.Thanks.

Hazard warning lights won't stop flashing

this sounds like the alarm system is going off,try unlocking from the pass/side door and if lights dont flash then you have a bad lock switch in the door.

Flashing Unit for Indicators Replacement

Most likely it's the hazard switch - the relay for the hazards and the turn signals is built into it. When they start to die, you will see erratic behavior with the turn signals and/or hazards, and eventually they'll both fail completely. Replace your hazard switch on the dash and you'll be good to go.

Hazard and turn signal

Under the dash is a flasher unit. Replace it and everything should start working again. The flasher unit is very inexpensive and available at most parts stores.
