Location of voltage regulator of 1990 plymount voyager

Hi there:

All Bosch, Nippondenso, Mitsubishi, and Chrysler (late model) alternators have an integral electronic voltage regulator. Voltage regulator replacement on these models requires removal and disassembly of the alternator.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

Voltage regulator on a 1985 dodge railant, where is it located ?

It could be in any one of 4 places. If your alternator is made by Chrysler or Bosch the car will have either an external regulator mounted on the right inner fender or in the power/logic module. If your alternator is Bosch or Mitsubischi it has an internal regulator. If the regulator is on the inner fender or screwed to the back of the alternator (Bosch) they are easily replaceable. The Bosch one only needs the screws undone and it comes off. The internal regulator needs to have the alternator taken apart to change the regulator.
Sorry if this sounds confusing but maybe this is why Chrysler was in trouble in the 80's. Hope this helps.
