I Have an 05 Pontiac Sunfire, I drove it to work This morning with no problem, when i went to leave it would Not Crack Like it was outta Gas, I added a Gal of Gas to it and will not Crank. it will start...

sir it is the fuel pump thats sure
but to be more certain it is the fuel pump make that simple test :
open the hood
unplug the fuel line before the filter or before throttle body
tell a friend to make one key turn not start just one
if the pump is working it should squirt the fuel
probably your fuel line won`t bring any fuel .
so make sure it is pump
replace it
it is located under the back seat with a plate cover opens like the bottle cap it looks like a cylinder with metal arm holding the float outside it for level (some models don`t have the float on pump)

Do you have to remove gas tank to replace the fuel pump

The Fuel Pump is inside the Fuel Tank, you will need to drop the tank in order to remove and replace the pump, which is accessed on the top of the tank.

Where is the inertia switch located on the 2005 pontiac sunfire

Hello kmcwil: My name is Roger and I will be glad to help you. On this particular car there is no inertia switch. The PCM or ECM controls the function of the fuel pump. Located under the hood you will find a fuse box. You will find a relay that is marked fuel pump. These two are all that controls the fuel pump. Also check the ECM,ignition and fuel pump fuses.
Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the quality of your answer. This way I know the information helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

Blowing fuel pump fuse

Did you change the pump? It may be drawing too much current and causing the fuse to blow... My recommendation is to replace that if you continue to have this problem OR unplug the fuel pump and see if it still blows... then it is a shorted wire!

2004 Pontiac Sunfire Does crank position sensor control fuel pump?

no, when you turn key on you should hear pump run for 2-3 seconds, if not check fuses, then if fuses are good have someone tapped fuel tank with rubber hammer as key is turned on, if fuel pump runs after tapping tank, replace fuel pump

98 pontiac Sunfire shuts self off

You might not need a tumble, the sys is controled by the key, and transponder, and the ecm. Most auto locks smiths can come out and check the system, might just need a key re-programed
