Question about 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio

Open Question

I just have the P1476 error code

Get my check engine light replaced and cam shaft sensor by a former dealership. Immediately after had to bring it in for a speedometer sensor replacement (speedometer stopped working). Immediately after that the check engine light came on again with the code P1476 (EVAP Control System LDP Malfunction/insufficient Vacuum). I've already exhausted my annual budget for car repair and would like to know if this is something I can fix myself or I can ignore without it damaging the car.

SOURCE: 99 jetta check engine light on, runs fine, speedometer not workin

o2 sensors will put your check-engine-light on. it is attached to the exhaust (closest to the motor)and rusts-out sometimes. you could try to fix it by buying the o2 sensor and use a socket-set to see if it loosens. i 'm not a mechanic but have had the issue, in the past, with the jetta II's and a 1997.the guys at vw dealers are great with info, if your a hands-on kinda guy/girl.

On some models, the Engine Control unit has a power supply relay. These relays some times get internal dry solder points. After driving for some time the the solder will get hot and separate. When it cools down it makes contact again. You will have to replace this relay or open it up and re- solder the solder joints. The relay is usually located on the main relay station in position 3. the relay station is located behind the right dash panel.[right hand drive vehicles]. You may need to refer to a manual for your specific model to find the exact location of the relay.

99 plymouth breeze 2.0L still dyes and check engine light came right back on after the camshaft positioning sensor was replaced..Heard something about clearing obd error code?

clearing the code is done by using a scan tool to reset the ECM
As it still dies and the light is still on then I suspect that you changed the wrong sensor
possible that it should have been the crankshaft sensor and not the cam shaft sensor
the error code will not effect the engine/ transmission performance
it is just a report to show you where the problem is

Buy the sensor from the car dealership. The sensors at auto stores are inferior and sometimes do not work properly.

P0340 Problem Code for 03 Jeep Liberty

code p0340 refers to cam shaft position sensora bank 1-circuit malfunction===causes --wiring Cam sensor---ECM. The only connection is the ECM to both units so they may have unpluged the ECM to service the air bag problem. IT could be as simple as using a code reader to reset the CPU. I may also be a coincedence and there may be a fault in the cam position sensor.. I would discuss the matter with the dealer service department to determine what is what.

My 2006 sebring cuts out at 3500rpm, has engine light on, have replaced fuel pump and cam shaft sensor

Most auto stores (Autozone) will use a scantool to tell you what the problem is & clear off the check engine light. It is a free service, but I'd suggest bringing a pen/paper to write down the error code & Google it afterwards. It's definitely handy for getting rid of the check engine light.

Sounds like your crank sensor or cam sensor is malfunctioning. Their positions are not correlating which means they are not in perfect alignment according to the computer. I don't think the parts are very expensive and probably not that hard to replace. I replaced both on my 99 Ford Explorer, and I don't recall it that difficult. Anyway, hope this helps.

Two days ago had the starter replaced on my 97 Jetta and yesterday the check engine light went on. I took the car to Autozone to see what code came up. This is the code P1476. The car is runnin fine, just...

The P1476 code comes up when the fuel tank leak detection pump attempts to pressurize the tank to 2PSI, and that pressure does not hold as it should. If the EVAP valve is hanging open, then you'll see the P1476 code.

My recommendation: remove the EVAP purge valve and see if you can blow through it. It should be sealed when there is no electrical power applied to it. If it's not, replace the valve, and that will fix your problem.
