There are numerous reasons why a diff makes noise, most are expensive to repair but you need to know what before that is determined. It is not a job to do at home. There are a good number of complete diffs in scrapyards which can be installed at home. You need to match the ring gear and pinion gear tooth count exactly. That install can be done at home.

There are many causes for rear diff noise. if fluid level is ok then you likely have a bad/worn set of gears or possibly bad/worn out clutches if you have a locking rear.if you do it yourself (and if you are asking questions on this site i do not at all recommend that) then you are looking at at least 300 dollars in parts and probably more than a week without your car. I would recommend letting a professional look at that one. Sorry for your luck. If its just a chatter type sound through corners then its definitely the clutches in a locking rear and I would just ignore it if you can. It won't affect the performance or drive ability of the car, just be annoying.

goodday i would say it depents on how great the leakage is on the diffs.but always a good thing to repair these small problems before it become big.better to buy or make gaskets than to repair a noisy or broken diff

1999 mustang base v6 noisy rear above 50 mph

check the "u" joints and check that the drive shaft flanges have been properly fitted to the pinion flange or that the "u"joints have been properly fitted into the pinion "ears " of the pinion.. Check that the correct grade of oil was used in the diff and it has the correct amount. New out of the factory diff should not be noisy but if you have a new rebuilt diff then it is possible that the gear mesh is not correct or used gears were used where the best mesh was obtained.

Noisy rear bearing?

Is isnt the rear end it would be very bad shaking and wouldnt last long because it would throw a bearing out. So its most likly the wheel bearing and you can just take it to a local automotive shop.
