If its a true serp belt/tensioner its auto adjusting. If you want to take it off get a 3/8 in drive ratchet or breaker bar (BB is better) and pull it to either side (the direction needed is different depending on the engine) until it disengages the belt. If its not holding tight enough the spring in it is shot and it needs to be replaced. if you have a V-belt setup the adjustments are usually the alternator and power steering pump.

What bolts do I loosen to tighten the power sterring belt on my 1981 buick reveria

IF you have a serpentine belt it's not a matter of adjusting the power steering belt tension because it's done automatically with a serpentine belt tensioner.
OTOH, if you have a separate V-belt you'll need to loosen the mounting bolt/nut at the bottom of the steering pump and the adjustment bracket then tighten the belt by moving the adjustment nut to tighten the belt.
You might be able to google a video of your particular engine power steering belt adjustment.

Belt Tensioner Operation:

Its provides the correct tension for initial belt adjustment and maintains this critical tension adjustment during vehicle operation. It can be found on conventional V-belts and the newer serpentine ribbed belts.

Serpentine belt loose on pontiac se grand am

The belt has an automatic tensioner pulley and no other adjustment is needed or provided for. If the belt is to loose you either have the wrong belt installed or the automatic tensioner is defective.

How do i adjust the tension belt on the alternator

You don't adjust the tension. The tensioner on that serpentine belt is spring loaded and never needs adjustment.
On a 2001 with normal miles (~125k), you should be on your second tensioner pulley and your third serpentine belt by now.

SERPENTINE BELT REPLACEMENT

The Belt Diagram should be on the underside of your hood, however they have a way of disappearing.

If it is not there:

Click on the following free direct Link. It has the correct Serpentine Belt Diagrams for your 2001 Toyota Corolla 1.8L (4-Cylinder) Engine and Engine Options (AC/No AC etc.). Included are Instructional and Directional Diagrams for your use.

http://www.2carpros.com/car_repair_information/year/2001/make/toyota/model/corolla/2001_toyota_corolla_drive_belt_routing_diagram.htm "HOW TO":
Standard Rules to Removal the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
1. Find the Tensioner(s). (See Diagrams on Link)
2. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool, Or Wrench OR Ratchet, Rotate/Move the Tensioner USING THE AVAILABLE NUT (on the Pulley or Arm Base) OR the OPENING (3/8ths or 1/2 inch square opening) rotating the Tensioner Pulley/Arm - moving it away from contact with the belt and towards the area where the belt is not in contact with the Tensioner Pulley. The Tensioner is spring loaded, and is hard to rotate/move.
3. Remove the loosened belt off one of the other more easily accessed Pulleys.
4. DO NOT quickly release the Tensioner, but gently allow the Tensioner to rest in its closed position.

Standard Rules for Installing the Serpentine Belt with an Automatic Tensioner:
a. Pick a Pulley that is most easily accessed. This will usually be on top. This will be the last Pulley that the belt will go on.
b. Using the Diagram: Install the new Serpentine Belt on the remainder of the Pulleys....over, under, left right.
c. Using a Serpentine Belt Tensioner Tool or Wrench or Ratchet Tool: Rotate/Move the Tensioner Pulley/Arm "away" from Belt contact area on the Tensioner. This spring is pretty hard and with a new belt, it will be even harder to install. Rotate/Move this to as-close to the maximum allowed inorder to have enough slack in the belt to get it up and over the last pulley.
d. Using your other hand - Pull the Belt up and over the Last remaining Pulley.
e. Before releasing the pressure on the Tensioner, visually inspect the remainder Pulleys and the Belts' Positioning on them.

Serpentine belt replacement

2.0L Engines
See Figures 11, 12 and 13
The accessory drive belt for 2.0L engines has no provision for manual belt adjustment, since these engines use an automatic belt tensioner. Drive belt slack is taken up by the automatic tensioner.
Movement of the automatic tensioner assembly during engine operation is not a sign of a malfunctioning tensioner. This movement is the tensioner self-adjusting and is required to maintain constant belt tension.
The belt tensioner has a belt length indicator. If the indicator marks are not between the MIN and MAX marks, the belt must be replaced.
