Have you check the fuse and the relay? Fuel pump is located at the rear next to your right tire. unscrew the shield from the underneath, u have to lay down under the car to get to it. car ramp works really well. You can pull the pump out and test it by connecting straight 12 volt to it. if the pump is good than your crank sensor will be faulty, is common for it to fail over time due to ages and heat exposure. what crank sensor does it sense the flywheel turning which send single to the ECU telling it to turn on the fuel pump. if you replace the crank sensor it also good idea to also replace the cam sensor, cam sensor does the same but tell the ecu to turn on the sparks. this both unit does not give you any sign when its going bad, 99% it just quit and will leave you stranded. hope that help some.

Lost electrical power to fuel pump

There are many reasons why fuel pumps have no power, most (in tank) fuel pumps fail due to low fuel inside of tank.

These fuel pumps turn at an alarming rate which in turn causes an alarming amount of heat. This heat is then dissipated by the fuel inside of the tank itself. If the driver/operator allows to run the fuel very low and continue to do so, this will over time allow for the fuel pump to overheat due to the ONLY source used to cool the fuel pump is the fuel inside of the fuel tank itself. Electrically, view the operator's manual or similar source to locate fuel pump fuse and/or relay of which will open the electrical path when the fuel pump overheats.
This should be a pretty good starting point to locate/isolate electrical issue you may be experiencing.

Good Hunting to you & hope this gets you back on the road soon!

1988 mercedes 190 e only runs if I dump fuel down the carburator then dies. Its not getting fuel for some reason.

The fuel pump has gone bad in it. It's time to replace it. I'm sure that the carb. is fine since you can dump fuel down it and it will run for a short time. Fuel just isn't getting into the carb. for the car to run right.

1991 Mercedes 190 starts but cuts out when driving

You could have a defective fuel pump, when they go bad they can draw enough current to fry the relay contacts, so I would suggest you test how many amps the fuel pump is drawing, I have fixed this very issue of repeated relay replacements, it was always the pump was shot.

Lift the hood. Just below the screen, opposite side from battery, you'll see a plastic cover shielding the engine management, abs control box etc. If you search around there after removing the shield/ cover you will find a relay with a fuse plugged into the top of it. This is the pump / system relay.

Drivers authorisation system on mercedes

My car is a 1.8 - E 190 , 1993 model. The car is in a good condiction and done only 93,000 miles. It never gave me any problems up to now and for that reason I love it. The problem developed last week is that, it is difficult to start and when it starts sometimes it does not rev up and the engine cuts off. The ignition side is OK with new spark plugs, rotor arm and adistributer head. The hi-tension leads seems OK. I sort advise from people with Merc knowledge. There suggestion is perhaps it is the malfunctioning of the fuel pump relay. I have difficulty in locating this part. Can anyone please advice me how to overcome this problem and the location of the fuel pump relay. I am a professional Mecanical Engineer with reasonable knowledge in car mechanics.
