Question about 2004 Chevrolet Impala

2 Answers

When I accelerate to enter the freeway the engine cuts out and when you floor it the problem worsens. I can also hear some sort of vibrating noise when I do this. The other day the engine when I was doing a test drive, the engine just died, but did restart. I thought maybe the problem occured when I had the fuel injectors cleaned at EZ Lube, since the car doesn't seem the same since they did that. I took it back, but all they could find was a loose air filter. They tightened that up saying that most likely solved the problem. However, when I did another test drive, the same problem occured and the "check engine light" began blinking, but eventually turned off after I slowed down.

I'll do that, but in the meantime is it safe to drive, as long as we stay off the freeway?

Rob, assuming this is a 4X4? Sounds like a bearing. They can vibrate, snap, clunk, all kinds of terrible noises or vibrations.
Axle u joints will also do this. Is it all wheel drive?

Vibrating noise at 2-3 rpm during acceleration after car warm up.

Is there a way you can Clarify your Question? There is a lot of words that are not meaning anything.. Is 2-3 RPM an accurate comment or are you meaning 2,000 - 3,000 RPM ?

Vibration at 2000rpm

Have a good look then you may see the problem also the front pulley as their is often a ribber bonded strip in the middle and these break loose causing you sort of vibration .Another source of noise is if the car ceramics inside it have broke up and rattle .

Your noise sounds like it is power train related,If you have eliminated the engine,Since it doesn't make the noise while moving and in neutral.
It sounds like a universal joint in the drive shaft.Do you notice a vibration
along with the noise?

Sounds like one of the bands inside the tire could be busted.
Solution - new tire.
Get the tracking checked as well.
It also could be a ball joint.
But that can be checked when you get the tracking sorted.
