Question about 2001 Toyota Tundra

1 Answer

Universal Oxygen Sensor Replacement Toyota Tundra.

Dont have a toyota wire diagram that came with universal oxygen sensor (Denso). Is it safe to assume that the 2 blacks on the new sensors go to the 2 whites on the plug? And the white from the new sensor goes to the grey on the plug? And then the blue from the new sensor goes to the black on the plug? This is following diagrams of same wire codes of diffrent vehicles.

SOURCE: How hard is it to replace the oxygen sensors in a

Easy, takes 10-15 min for all of them. But there a oxygen sensor tool you can buy that makes it A LOT easier for $10. It a matter of (LIKE TAKING OUT A SPARK PLUG) JUST BE SURE TO ADD ANTI SEIZE TO THREAD IF IT DOENS'T HAVE ANY. Also i work for bosch that makes these and the aftermarket is the same part even tested the same. it may look a little different but it's function is the same.

SOURCE: on my '02 tundra the

oxygen sensors are on the exhaust. its just a small sensor with 1 or 3 wires. bank one meens left. if its a v6 or v8. but 4 cyl engines only have one bank ,. sensor 1 meens its before the catylitic converter. sometimes right by the engine manifold and sometimes way under. just follow the pipe from the engine to the cat and u will find it. if u can get it out the new one is easy. the problem is they usualy rust in tight. they make a special socket just for them. try some PB Blaster its no joke the suff makes WD40 look like cooking oil.lol.

SOURCE: How to I Install a

I'm not sure what kind of universal sensor you got but having been in this business for over 25 years and own a shop now I would like to make a suggestion to you. Take the universal back. Your system has a heated O2 sensor and a universal will just not do the job and you may still get DTC's (the engine light will come back on). Even if you need to go to Nissan and spend a little more money for the sensor, it will work correctly. Even though your vehicle is older, it still depends on readings from the sensors to the computer in order for it to run right. This may also help gas mileage by putting the correct one in not to mention if your vehicle runs richer or leaner you will end up doing a tune up on it sooner then normal so the extra money you spend now will pay for itself later. Your not my customer so I'm not making money off of you just trying to give you a tip. I hope you take the advice. If you do still want to put the universal on you may end up contacting the manufacturer in order to get the correct wiring for it unless someone has it on here but they would still need to know who made it.

Have code P2238 - what could be the cause ?

code p 2238 has 3 references
heated oxygen sensor(HO2S) 1 bank 1,positive current control---circuit low ====causes ---wiring short to ground ---HO2S
second reference
oxygen sensor (O2S) 1 bank 1 positive current---circuit low====causes ---wiring short to ground ---O2S
3rd reference
HO2S 1 bank 1--implausible signal===causes ---wiring---short to positive ---short to ground ---HO2S---ECM
as the heated oxygen sensor is common with wiring problems indicated , maybe changing it will fix the code
note
HO2S is the sensor in the exhaust manifold in bank1 before the cat converter

What is the P0420 code on my 2004 toyota tundra

the P0420 CODE IS INSUFFICIENT CATALYTIC FLOW , FIRST CHECK OTHER SENSORS BEFORE REPLACING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR, CHECK YOU REAR OXYGEN SENSOR TO MAKE SURE IT IS WORKING FINE, THEN CHECK YOUR EGR VALVE, MAKE SURE IT IS NOT LEAKING, CHECK YOU MASS AIR FLOW METER IF IT HAS ONE OR AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR, THIS WILL BE THE TOP OXYGEN SENSOR. IF ALL GOOD THE CAT IS THE PROBLEM, THAT IS THE TOP CAT.

2007 Toyota sienna V6 P2197 code from Autozone diagnostic.

Solved. I have 2008 Sienna with Check Engine and VSC lights on. Scanned codes were P0051 and P2197. Oxygen Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 needs to be replaced. You can see this sensor on the right side of the engine when you open up the hood. You need to get an Oxygen Sensor socket (I used Tekton 7/8in 22mm which costs $9) and a wrench extension to reach it. Spraying liquid wrench a few times on the base of the old sensor also helped to loose it. The replacement sensor I used was Denso 234-9049 which costs $85 from eBay. Lights went off after the sensor was replaced. It took me 30 minutes to replace.

Year make and model also engine size. I'm not a fan of universal O2 sensors perhaps you should've put a direct fit on. To clear the codes depending on the year if the car removing the and make removing the battery negative, the ECM fuse or using a scanner should work.

Had local part store pull code. O2S heater CKT malfunction 1/1

This fault indicates a problem in the oxygen sensor heater circuit, bank 1 sensor 1.
Your vehicle is equiped with four oxygen sensors total. Two upstream and two after the catalytic conveter that monitor emissions and converter effeciency. The front sensor on the left (drivers side) bank requires replacement. The heaters are used to bring the sensor up to operating temperature sooner.
