Dissconnect battery, remove wiring from back of alt, loosen drive belt, undo alternator bolts to remove and just do reverse order to fit, adjust alt belt carefully not too tight not too loose,eg;about a few mm of deflection in the belt

Good day, can anyone help me with torque specs and sequence for a 2002 volkswagen jetta 1.8L cylinder head to engine block.

The 2002 service manual says replace stretched bolts. stage I: 30 ft-lb (40Nm) stage II: additional 1/4 turn, stage III: another 1/4 turn. Start in center, work your way out diagonally back and forth (crossways) ending on the ends of the block. Do this sequence on each stage.

2001 VW bug makes what sounds like a squealing noise when it starts. Sounds like it is coming from under the hood.

Sounds like the alternator belt is loose. Re-tension it then replace the belt as soon as possible as its likely to have been put under a lot of strain since it was slipping and causing the squeeling sound.
