Question about GMC Envoy

1 Answer

2008 Envoy Denali....I was driving down the freeway when I hear this "clicking" sound like a relay switch. My low beams go out but I still have high beams and fog lights. When I reach my destination I realize I have no interior lights unless I turn them on with the dimmer switch on the dash. The headlights flash with the security warning so I know the bulbs are good. Any thoughts???

If you have multiple problem and there is clicking noise , then the problem is the Headlamp Driver Module relay.
To start ensure that fuses are OK, check fuses #3, #6, and #57 that control the lights.
The Headlamp Driver Module is relay #46. For testing purpose you cna try switching the relay #46, with the fan relay #47. The lights driver relay must be replaced with a relay of the same kind. Do not keep engine on without fan relay.

If the fuses are blown replace them, then you will also need relay 46, that is the HDM relay that controls lights. It is available at any car part shop.
The faulty relay can cause fuses to blow again.
Buy some extra fuse along with the relay.

What you do is this: first replace fuses or test them. If they do not fix the problem, then get a new HDM relay, replace it , then eventually replace the fuses again, unless there is an additional wiring problem, they should not blow with the new relay.

Check the light switch, fuse, relay and the wiring to the bulbs. Don't forget the ground wires either.

I have GMC envoy 2007 Denali, the low light stopped working.

Simple and very very common's about a $30 fix. Replace the low beam relay in the fuse box. There are 2 right next to each other #43 and 46. In a pinch you CAN switch these 2 and your lows will work. The other is for the cooling, so watch temp if you do this temporary swap.

2003 envoy low beams will not work.fuses good, bulbs good, replcd turn signal assembly, not relay in fuse box for low beams.only high beam relay.

For the I6 engine there is a relay for low beams, it's relay # 46. Switch it with relay #45 (runs the fan, same model relay) and see if your lights now come on. These 2 relays are the only 2 black ones in there (part # 15016745). Also, try to clean the contacts very well on the fuse box and the relay. If not, you may have some frayed wiring in the harness.

By the way, the high beam relay is #43, the gray one next to the windshield wiper relay #42.frontfuses.jpg

Not work my low beam lights but the market light and high lights works on 2004 Envoy

Common problem. Next time your low beams don't work, switch relay #46 with relay #45. If you now have lights, replace the relay.

I have a 2005 envoy denali and the head lights go off while we are driving it and the high beams and fog lights still work. Eventually they come back on. This has happened several times . Can you help me...

In the fuse box, switch relay #46 with relay #45. If you have lights again, get a new relay. Being your lights aren't out all the time, try cleaning the relay contacts, and the fuse box contacts for this relay. This worked for me.

I have a 2004 GMC Envoy and my low beams are switching off periodically while I'm driving but my high beams still work, why is this happening?

You may have an intermittent low beam relay. Check Relay #46 in the underhood fuse panel, pull it out of its socket and examine the pin contacts, if they are corroded clean them. If they look good, replace the relay.
