Subaru 2.5 L flood Aug 2016. Drained the pan oil w/2 Q water. Pulled plugs Tried to turn over to expel water. New bat. will not turn starter. What next? ; Any Suggestions??

the major problem with flooded or water immersed cars is the electronics and electric components
water short circuits all the systems as the battery is still connected
besides that when an engine is under water, the silt in the water gets to every where even behind the rings, into bearings, oil passages--everywhere
for your problem replace the starter relay and starter motor but your waste of money will not end there
Insurance would have covered the replacement / loss of the car and it is recorded as water immersed in the insurance data base so it is now ******* to resell it unless you tell the buyer that it is water damaged
Best idea is to wreck it for what ever spares you can or simply junk it

How to service a stabilitrak on a 2006 cadillac dts

If the Stabilitrak Yaw sensor box gets full of water you will get the Service Stabilitrak message.
The 2006-2011 Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne have a manufacturing defect of a major water leak problem at the bottom of the driver's side A pillar just below the windshield, accessible after the air inlet grille panel under the wiper blades is removed. The GM service manual bulletin #PI0356A (June 8, 2011) vaguely outlines how to seal off this opening, see attached photo taken from this bulletin. After sealing the obvious unsealed seams, I had to use fire-block insulating foam to close off the large 1 inch remaining upper opening.
The Cadillac DTS has another water leak path in the left front hinge pillar area under the wheelhouse liner noted in the same service bulletin.
In our Lucerne CXS, water actually flooded the Stabilitrak Yaw sensor box which is under the carpet under the driver's seat, resulting in the service Stabilitrak message . It's a major chore to remove the seats, trim and center console just to get the carpets out to dry. The carpets are difficult to dry because they have 1 inch of foam attached which holds a lot of water.
After removing the carpets and sealing the obvious seams, water still poured in when tested with a water hose and it was then I discovered that the water was getting in through the large upper opening which I used fire-block foam to seal. It's best to water test before you put everything back together.
You can quickly check if you have a water leak problem in your vehicle by popping up the rear seat bottom, removing the carpet clip and lifting the carpet on the driver's side rear passenger seat. Ours had about a 1/2 inch of standing water plus a lot more held in the carpet's foam rubber.
I was able to reuse the flooded Stabilitrak Yaw sensor by opening the box, shaking out the water, rinsing the insides with isopropyl alcohol and drying with a hair dryer. The service message went out and the Stabilitrak works in my attempts to slide around on gravel.
I'm surprised that GM didn't have a recall as I consider Stabilitak to be safety equipment.

I have a 2002 Mercury Sable w/DOHC that was drove through flooded intersection last week & stalled. The water was about 2-3 feet deep. I've replaced oil, filters, spark plugs & dried out...

when car won`t turn but clicks then the ( brushes of you starter are worn may be the man who replace used the old brushes ) its very simple thing but will get your car to start
but you didn`t mention anything about fuses and relays if you haven`t replace them all then replace relays/fuse first
you welcome any time sir .

Nasty molding musty smell...started iout of the blue. It is now early spring have not used A/C yet. It is making me sick

Musty smell comes from three possible situations.
First is simply a spilled liquid on the carpet. A thorough carpet cleaning will get this.
Second, water entering the body of the car. (IE: leaking door seals , window seals, or the hardest to find... coming in under the carpet from the floor pan) Barring leaks from the seals and spills, The floor pan has drain holes and rubber plugs that may dry out and allow water from below the car to enter.
Third, Your A/C unit is developing this condensation in the Air flow Box (complicated air flow box under dash holding your heater core and A/C core) This is a common problem, but requires a de-mold solution best applied by a Pro. You can buy over the counter solutions (sprays) and then make sure you run the heater after each A/C run. That works for many as it dries out the condensation the A/C produces.

Hope this helps.

water is the worst, are you insured,as I live in Australia and I see cars written off by water every year,if youre not you may experience many random erratic faults, like dropping a cell( mobile)phone in water and it may or may not work and for how long.....sorry but thats the reality.get the car looked at by a trusted mechanic for a second opinion and show him or her this, best wishes Angus

1998 hynudai elantra won't start. Need Help.

well it could be as simple as just replacing the fuel pump relay. it's located in the junction box under the hood. if the relay is good then check the fuel cutoff switch. that is located behinfd the fabric in the trunk along the wheel wells. if this was not triggered then it could be that you might have a glitch in the ecm water is not kind to computers especially cars that have the ecm's in the engine compartments
