You either have to go to a BMW dealer or a shop that has a reset tool. there's no trick

BMW 86 L7 key turns on all the lights on various gauges but the car does not turn over. Replaced the starter but still the same problem. Could it be an anti theft switch, or electrical problem? Help.

yes, if the security light is on, it would be the anti-theft system. If no light, maybe it's the safety interlock. Try starting in neutral or giggling the shifter. If neither of these, please see my tip at . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

The blower on my 1986 bmw l7 some times and some

check your switch first make sure it is having continuity with the switch removed second these motors did fail at the clips with corrosion from time to time. inspection guide.
1.Remove cowl ventilation grill
2 Remove hood seal and 12 screws holding intake cover
3.Mark and then disconnect vacuum servos
4Remove relay bracket and temp sensor
5.inspect wiring and connectors with key on lightly push on the wires to find the problem connector removal is quite difficult be very careful taking connector off and if connectors look good there is a short in the motor its self.

You can't use a tool to pull codes from an '87 BMW 325(e). You have the 2.7 liter and your DME, or computer is a Motronic. If you had a 325i, then a tool could read the codes because the computer was upgraded that year to a Motronic 1.1 system with a round plug in under the screw cap on the driver's side under the hood. The only tool you can buy is the one for resetting the service interval light and resetting the oil change light. To answer your question about going about finding your driveability problem would be to get a BMW Bentley Manual. This manual shows you how to use a standard voltmeter to check everything from your computer plug in. Your computer is located above the glovebox.

Good Luck,

How do I remove the dash board of BMW 735l

Are you loosing engine coolant? If so,maybe a heater core issue. This usually requires instrument panel removal. If so it is labor intensive. This is a job for a mechanic with at least a 7 to 8 skill level on a scale of 1 to 10.Good Luck..

I think your problem might be your fuel relay which is situated next to the fuse box in the engine compartment.
