2002 AERIO - will not start sometimes. i just let it set for about 5 to 10 minutes then it starts. had the battery replace 2 times. took to a mechanic and has no idea why it does that.

Does the engine crack when you turn the key?
if it does it is probably not the battery.
You can mesure if the battery is dead. the voltage across the poles should be about 12v, any lower than 8-9v you have a problem.
It does not always mean that you battery is dead. Could also be that it is not charging the battery right. when the engine is running the voltage should be <13.6v and when you rev the engine it sould go up a little bit. If it doesnt, then you alternator is dead.

Could the battery be dead from sitting? if so charge it and try again, would suggest adding some <HEAT> product for water in gas, because old fuel could make it run ragged or not at all when it does try to run.
