You probably need a new window regulator . You would need to take door panel off to replace it . How To Replace The Window Regulator On 2004 Ford F150 I don't know what kind of vehicle you have but this will give you a idea what's involved !
hey what you can do rather than take her in and get a new 'regulator' or motor you just take the door apart and there is a little metal contact below the button just clean that with a little rubbing alcohol. The drives side gets the most use usually so carbon builds up on the connectors and a shop/dealership will usually clean it but charge for a new motor. good luck total time is 15 minutes maybe.
This problem is very likely caused by the drivers side power window switch being defective, I have seen this very same problem in the shop more than once and the new master switch fixed it. here is the part number and price from www.Rockauto.com
AIRTEX Part # 1S3874-Left front Power Window Switch. Price $105.79
so you have to pull the run channel out then slide the window in the regulator/ then slide the run channel back into window/ you have to have that run channel out to put glass in youve just about got ituse glass cleaner in the run channel to slide it back down/ Please rate my respmse thank you very much
Unless you've been inside the doors and made repairs like this before..you're better off to take the car to a authorized garage....believe me on this one..the money you spend will be well worth the hair pulling you're gonna do trying to do it yourself.
The first thing that I would do is check for electricty at the motors them sel and work your way back.If there is elec. at the window motor it's self susspect a motor problem.Remove the motor to see if it spins (but it dosen't me its good it could be week)next check for binding in the window mecanism.
