Question about 2006 Dodge Magnum

1 Answer

Check engine evap code

I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum R/T. The check engine light came on so I got it diagnosed and came back with an Evap code. So I changed the gas cap...twice. The check engine light is still on and now I can smell gasoline in the back seat. Any ideas?

My check engine and check fuel cap light keep coming on after i changed the gas cap twice and reset the light it came back on what could this be. I drive a 06 lincoln navigator

You need to diagnose any codes you get
& smoke test the evap system, to find a
problem

Seldom does throwing on parts with a name similar
to a code work

Codes have nothing to do with installing parts

Clearing codes, clears all data needed to diagnose
the failed system & the evap system only runs every few
days,so you done as far as codes helping

My 2003 hyundai elantra's check engine light is on.

most of the time a engine light will set with an Evap leak code if the gass cap is not tight or left off. tighten cap, or replace cap if gasket is cracked or worn.

P0449 code check engine light??

This code is for your evaporative emissions system. This system traps unburned gasoline fumes, an reroutes it into the engine at an appropriate time. This particular code is related to the evap vent solenoid. It doesn't necessarily mean the evap vent solenoid has failed, it's just a starting point. It could be a blown fuse, or wiring issue. It could be a large evap leak detected by the evap vent solenoid feedback signal to the computer, or it could be a failed evap vent solenoid itself. This system is not easy to diagnose yourself. It usually entails a special smoke machine that fills the evap system, then seals it. Then the technician looks for smoke leaking from the system. It would be best to have a qualified technician diagnose it for you.

Engine light on diagnosed PO44O dodge said probably the purge control solonoid. where is this located on a 2004 dodge neon?

Try checking the gas cap first off. 95% of the time, an EVAP code, (purge solenoids, or any EVAP code) could be caused by a lose gas cap, or a defective gas cap.

And I know on SOME neons, the evap canister purge solenoid is located on a bracket attached to the air cleaner. Hope this helped.

Gascap

check the o-ring under the cap or just replace cap, dodge uses a system called leak detection with a small pump to put vacumm on the evap system if the system fails to hold vaccum then it is 90% time the fuel cap or bad vaccum line in evap system or purge valve.
