Have you checked your crankshaft Position sensor?
It's located on the top of the transmission bell housing on the driver side. I have run into problems before your same symptoms and found the sensor to be bad

1996 grand cherokee-6cyl When making tight turns,

Hi, the likely problem is a worn out CV joint on one of your axles. Check for a torn boot on either axle. Once a toot tears open, dirt gets in and wears out the joint. Please let me know if you have more questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

1996 jepp grand cherokee 6 cyl. kepps stalling out

Have a code test done (most larger parts houses will read codes for free)
Get yourself either a haynes or chilton manual and look up any codes and find what they are related to. Manuals will also list individual tests to components that you can do using a decent multi-meter.
Most common cause of a problem such as yours is either a failing crank position sensor or fuel pump but it can be caused by many other items including a loose connection at the ignition switch, coil etc. (why testing is important) Wish there was something simple like a "stalling out switch" you could replace, but there isn't!
Good luck and post back if you have a specific question about an individual part or system!

1996 Jeep GC stalling with no warning when driving

my 96 grand cherokee had the same problem with stalling minus the clock reseting part. what fixed mine was an idle air control motor it sits at the back of the throttle body on top of the motor. the part cost about 60 bucks and it hasn't stalled out on me since. i hope this helps you out.
