De Icing in the winter

I got a 2008 Highlander Hibrid, will be my first winter and car will be outside. Does it make sence to install an automatic car starter? Will the motor keep running? Or just shut off as it does now?

You really dont want to install an auto starter on a hybrid, but if you do please let an experienced tech perform the installation. the engine on the vehicle works in conjunction with the battery, the battery actually helps keep everything warm so the vehicle warms up faster.

Go under car with a wire and poke upward. Try to pull out as much blockage as possible so it won't happen again. You can make a small bend in wire end to do this. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Yes there is (see picture below). I'm not sure what you mean when you say "shortcut installing alternator" so I went on and gave you the wiring diagrams for the charging system which has several fuses involved. Hope this helps.....

Rear hatch wont open with remote or close by pushing the button on the hatch. does anyone know how to fix this?

In my vehicle there is a botton in the glovebox that gets accidently switched off. there is a child safety button to prevent automatic door closing...highlander may have this switch as well.

Friend has a Toyota Highlander that says 4x4 on the outside, but she can't figure out how to put the vehicle in 4 wheel drive. Can you help?

The Highlander (All Wheel Drive version) is a full-time 4 wheel drive vehicle. There are no controls or switches - it is always in four wheel drive mode.

What do the settings S-D and plus minus on trasmission shifter m

The plus and the minus allows you to "manually" shift the automatic transmission; sort of like a manual transmission, without a clutch......minus = downshift, + = upshift.
Just put it in "D" and drive on.

The ABS light stays on if there is a malfunction in the ABS system. If you DID get it turned off; & only by using a scan tool, it would come right back on if the vehicle has a definite malfunction.
Checking the Hybrid System: You def need a Toyota scan tool. No other way to check it.
