Smile, unfortunatly their is no step by step way to remove a tranny. They're is a lot involved especially since its front wheel drive. If you have never done any mechanical work I would not recommend starting with a transmission. I work on cars regurlary and the trans even for a qualified person takes about 4-8hrs depending on skillset and any problems. The problem is when folks do something like this for the first time they remove things that don;t need to be removed or forget where things go and the trans job gets turned in to a bigger job. I would definitely recommend a manual for this job as thery're no online step by step directions for this sort of thing. If you're wanting to attempt to change the tranny your self and are confident you can do it then by all means go ahead but please buy a manual. The Chiltons/Haynes can be bought at any auto parts store for $15-$20 and is a basic do it youself manual that shows how to do most things the non mechanic/car owner would want to do themselves. Trust me you will thank yourself for buying the manual. Its not as deatailed as the Chryser dealer service manual but is very accurate and has step by step for removing bolts/wiring/torque converter and troubleshooting tips etc for the price. you can't beat it. It would take 2-3 pages of words for the equilivant info and its all just words whereas the manual has photos to help you understand things better. If you can change the trans you can do anything else in the manual...smile It also has info about tune ups/changing cap, rotor, alternator, powersteering pump, water pump etc. If they dont' have it at the auto parts store try another or ebay has them for maybe less.. Doesn't have to be new just complete.. Good luck and let me know how it goes, I would love my wife to have this same motivation but she expects me to do all the "guy" stuff....
